Good evening, thanks for putting together this video. My son just purchased a 2017 lacrosse and it has a weak battery. My battery looks just like this one. Was the battery in your original to the car. I can not find any date code stampings on the battery case or the sticker. These is supposed to be some sort of ac Delco code on their batteries, but I am assuming that’s only if purchased as non oem.

Yes that was the battery from the factory. Actually I did not need a new battery, but I did not know that until after the fact of changing the battery. However, the video shows how to properly change it. You can get any brand battery, like from Autozone or whatever, but I personally went with AC delco. I have a link in the pinned comment to this exact battery on Amazon if you are interested. I ordered the battery and got I the next day. Great price too.

you're not wrong. i see a difference in my gmc, 2.7 turbo. the malibu i used to have was VERY selective on fuel. any time it would idle for a few, p0420 would come up. it would trip the fuel alcohol. it was an e85 compatible car. finally just traded that sucker in. i've not seen an engine light on the truck but it absolutely does make a difference on how it idles and runs. they say it's turned to run on 87 but i have my doubts.

I did some research, and apparently, the cars were designed to run on 93 octane but will run on 87 octane, but this is because there are timing tables in the PCM. So basically, if you use 87 octane the PCM will advance the timing until it detects a knock, then slightly retards it, but when you ru on 93 octane the PCM doesn't use these timing tables, and tuners have data logged this, please read these two forum threads. Yes I'd say if engine has more than four cylinders and 3 L or higher, 87 octane shouldn't be used. For example I have an in-line 5 cylinder 2006 Colorado and it runs much better on 89 octane than 87 octane.

Ethanol has higher octane than gasoline. Adding ethanol boosts octane figures. Thing is it also requires more ethanol to achieve stoichiometric mixture because ethanol is less energy dense. Still it resists detonation better and is thus higher octane. Running low octane fuel and force the engine to run rich. It isn’t ethanol’s fault

I'm my car? If you are asking about my car, there is no sticker. Based on my experience and the owners manual these engines need 89 octane or higher. I know my experience is anecdotal, but but I've seen this in multiple vehicles with these high feature engines.

@@oneanddonediy yes there is usually a recommended octane sticker inside fuel door and I wondered if Buick had actually said 91 or higher there. I believe what you are conveying....I use top tier gas always and have found that my 87 octane Highlander V6 gets 17.5 mpg on regular and 22 on same work loop on 93 so I believe the extra octane and detergent are worth the price..for about the same yearly expenditure on fuel.

@@vlxneutron2835 I see what you mean about those stickers, I remember seeing those octane stickers years ago, but I have not been those stickers in years. I have owned 7 cars in past 10 years ranging from 1999-2021 and have not seen a octane sticker inside of the fuel door. Yes, the higher octane if definitely worth it is V6 engines especially the GM high feature engines. This 87 octane they advertise seems mainly so appease most people about lower gas prices when in reality, in some cases, you can buy the high test and your car runs much better and you get better fuel economy.

It could work for some calls where you can do offline programming. But if it is a GM, for example you would need a pass-through and a laptop to program for PCM swap.

Until you've removed and replaced the refrigerant with the exact amount you're guessing. I'd guess your system isn't under charged with insufficient level of refrigerant.

That's a good thought. When I get my recovery machine I'll learn more about what's going on here after I install the new expansion valve and get the appropriate amount of refrigerant added back to the system.

Check the dust filter in it because if that has something in it or is not properly seated it will cause the suction not to be as strong as it could be.

Eventually, the vehicle shuts off the circuit that feeds the cigarette lighter when the engine is not running. Now that you have an extra battery, that could become your memory saver. Just hook it up under the hood as if you were getting a jump.

I must have dumped the filter and housing away last time I used it. @@waynetaylor7086 well, one way you could for surely delete it is to connected the unit to your computer via the USB cable and navigate to the folder where the data files are stored and delete whichever files you want deleted. Maybe there's another way but I've never tried.

Good overview! How does it compare to your Topdon Phoenix Plus? I have the D8 the D9 seems to have a bigger screen and everything else seems about the same. I love my Topdon Phoenix Plus it's my go-to scanner! I still have the D8 and i give it a little love here and there 😊

Thanks, and glad you liked the video! Well, the D9 does have special online ecu programming features for certain makes and models, and also has guided functions for for cars like BWM. The D9 also have WIFI communication from the VCI to the scantool (not the WIFI in your house just to be clear) but if you have a D8 you likely won't need to upgrade to the D9. The Topdon Phoneix Plus is a great scanner. However, the Xtool family has the best key programming capabilities of just about any scantool I have used. You have two great scantools!

It's not connected to a Wi-Fi router. It's a Wi-Fi receiver inside of the scan tool that talks to the VCI. it just makes it faster communicating than with Bluetooth.

I honestly haven't used it that much because I have so many other scan tools. But what I will say is this while this scantool is pretty good, for the same price you might be better off looking at a different brand like Launch, XTOOL, Topdon, etc.

Sorry, you obviously do very little electrical wiring work. Those strippers are garbage. Go down the street to Home Depot and for about $5 more you can get some automatic adjustment strippers that are 3x the quality.

Hello, thank you for your video. I had a question… I don’t understand why at the end of the video at 16.45 when testing the ringing signal, we don’t hear the signal when it was plugged to the bulb. You said it was an open loop. Still that’s the purpose of the device to trace where it catches the signal by ringing and after the open circuit the signal is lost and hums. And you find the open spot from going back and forth. Did you mean it was a closed loop from the black to red signal and ringing signal is disappeared when shorted from red sending signal to ground black ? Anyways something I’m missing… sorry if I didn’t understand

You don't hear the signal because the negative terminal was not connected to the bulb. It's just a demonstration to show that that was not a complete circuit from the positive to the negative terminal of the battery. So therefore you get no signal sound. Hope this helps.

Did you register the tablet doing the setup process? Also, if the tablet portion of the scan tool at the bottom of the screen, there's an icon that looks like a little car hit that and that might open the software for you

I pick up 3 + mpg using high octane gas in my 350 cdi van. Lots more power. Ethanol gas sucks bad.
Yes I'd say if engine has more than four cylinders and 3 L or higher, 87 octane shouldn't be used. For example I have an in-line 5 cylinder 2006 Colorado and it runs much better on 89 octane than 87 octane.
Ethanol has higher octane than gasoline. Adding ethanol boosts octane figures. Thing is it also requires more ethanol to achieve stoichiometric mixture because ethanol is less energy dense. Still it resists detonation better and is thus higher octane. Running low octane fuel and force the engine to run rich. It isn’t ethanol’s fault

What octane did the sticker inside the fuel door recommend?
I'm my car? If you are asking about my car, there is no sticker. Based on my experience and the owners manual these engines need 89 octane or higher. I know my experience is anecdotal, but but I've seen this in multiple vehicles with these high feature engines.
@@oneanddonediy yes there is usually a recommended octane sticker inside fuel door and I wondered if Buick had actually said 91 or higher there. I believe what you are conveying....I use top tier gas always and have found that my 87 octane Highlander V6 gets 17.5 mpg on regular and 22 on same work loop on 93 so I believe the extra octane and detergent are worth the price..for about the same yearly expenditure on fuel.
@@vlxneutron2835 I see what you mean about those stickers, I remember seeing those octane stickers years ago, but I have not been those stickers in years. I have owned 7 cars in past 10 years ranging from 1999-2021 and have not seen a octane sticker inside of the fuel door. Yes, the higher octane if definitely worth it is V6 engines especially the GM high feature engines. This 87 octane they advertise seems mainly so appease most people about lower gas prices when in reality, in some cases, you can buy the high test and your car runs much better and you get better fuel economy.

Would you recommend this for a pcm Swap ?
It could work for some calls where you can do offline programming. But if it is a GM, for example you would need a pass-through and a laptop to program for PCM swap.

Is this scanner capable to basic setting transmission?
It's based on ThinkCar so that means that the bi-directional controls are really good so it should.
Until you've removed and replaced the refrigerant with the exact amount you're guessing. I'd guess your system isn't under charged with insufficient level of refrigerant.
That's a good thought. When I get my recovery machine I'll learn more about what's going on here after I install the new expansion valve and get the appropriate amount of refrigerant added back to the system.

I don't know if its just mine but i feel mines doesn't have that much power as yours.
Check the dust filter in it because if that has something in it or is not properly seated it will cause the suction not to be as strong as it could be.

Eventually, the vehicle shuts off the circuit that feeds the cigarette lighter when the engine is not running. Now that you have an extra battery, that could become your memory saver. Just hook it up under the hood as if you were getting a jump.

I must have dumped the filter and housing away last time I used it. @@waynetaylor7086 well, one way you could for surely delete it is to connected the unit to your computer via the USB cable and navigate to the folder where the data files are stored and delete whichever files you want deleted. Maybe there's another way but I've never tried.
Good overview! How does it compare to your Topdon Phoenix Plus? I have the D8 the D9 seems to have a bigger screen and everything else seems about the same. I love my Topdon Phoenix Plus it's my go-to scanner! I still have the D8 and i give it a little love here and there 😊
Thanks, and glad you liked the video! Well, the D9 does have special online ecu programming features for certain makes and models, and also has guided functions for for cars like BWM. The D9 also have WIFI communication from the VCI to the scantool (not the WIFI in your house just to be clear) but if you have a D8 you likely won't need to upgrade to the D9. The Topdon Phoneix Plus is a great scanner. However, the Xtool family has the best key programming capabilities of just about any scantool I have used. You have two great scantools!

Is it AutoAuth approved for Chrylers. How can it be used on test drives away from shop if connection to VCI is via WIFI?
It's not connected to a Wi-Fi router. It's a Wi-Fi receiver inside of the scan tool that talks to the VCI. it just makes it faster communicating than with Bluetooth.
I am not sure if these scantools are autoauth approved. As far as the Wi-Fi, it is not connected to the Wi-Fi router. It is a Wi-Fi receiver inside of the scan tool that communicates with the VCI which makes it faster than if it had Bluetooth communications.

I honestly haven't used it that much because I have so many other scan tools. But what I will say is this while this scantool is pretty good, for the same price you might be better off looking at a different brand like Launch, XTOOL, Topdon, etc.

Sorry, you obviously do very little electrical wiring work. Those strippers are garbage. Go down the street to Home Depot and for about $5 more you can get some automatic adjustment strippers that are 3x the quality.
You are exactly right, I'm not an electrician and they are more than good enough for me and my usage. If you want something better just go elsewhere.

They essentially are the same except the Lite has less special functions from what I can tell.

Hello, thank you for your video. I had a question… I don’t understand why at the end of the video at 16.45 when testing the ringing signal, we don’t hear the signal when it was plugged to the bulb. You said it was an open loop. Still that’s the purpose of the device to trace where it catches the signal by ringing and after the open circuit the signal is lost and hums. And you find the open spot from going back and forth. Did you mean it was a closed loop from the black to red signal and ringing signal is disappeared when shorted from red sending signal to ground black ? Anyways something I’m missing… sorry if I didn’t understand
You don't hear the signal because the negative terminal was not connected to the bulb. It's just a demonstration to show that that was not a complete circuit from the positive to the negative terminal of the battery. So therefore you get no signal sound. Hope this helps.

i was looking to get D9S but it have 6500mAh battery with bigger screen & that mean the battery will not last long without charging! while the D8W 10000mAh with small screen & i was disappointed! thats was really weird for me! but still D8 is a beast. Xtool nailed it with their tools awesome features & subscription & prices! i bought D8W & it's in the way. 39

Did you register the tablet doing the setup process? Also, if the tablet portion of the scan tool at the bottom of the screen, there's an icon that looks like a little car hit that and that might open the software for you
Just go inside the Android settings and do a factory reset and start from scratch again with it. This might help.
