I loved the dancers in this scene. I got bored with the women. I wanted to slap Lesley Anne Warren's character for being so silly and jealous! Yes, I know, it's part of the plot, but really! Don't be so insecure!

'Bout twenty years ago Way down in New Orleans A group of fellows found A new kind of music And they decided to call it... JAZZ No other sound has What this music has Before they knew it It was squeezing round the world The world was ready For a blue kind of music And now they play it From Steamboat Springs to La Paz Oh baby, won't you play me Le Jazz Hot maybe And don't ever let it end I tell you, friend It's really something to hear I can't stay still When there's that rhythm near me Oh, so baby Le Jazz Hot may be What's holding my soul together Don't know whether it's morning or night Only know it's sounding right So come on in and play me Le Jazz Hot maybe Cause I love my jazz... HOT Before they knew it It was squeezing round the world The world was ready For a blue kind of music And now they play it From Steamboat Springs to La Paz When you play me Le Jazz Hot baby You're holding my soul together Don't know whether it's morning or night Only know it's sounding right So come on in and play me Le Jazz Hot baby Cause I love... my jazz hot Le Jazz Hot... Le Jazz Hot.

Such a great cast - a real ensemble but so many top performances. This should've been an Oscar win for Lesley Van Warren & Robert Preston, and Alex Karas held his own under Blake Edwards. I saw it 9 times in the theater so I recognize some of the lead dancers - there's a redhead with a triangular nose, and another tall dark haired man... all in different numbers like a real troupe. Of course, the biggest Bravo to both Juilie Andrews and Blake Edwards - the only camera shot that was a little wonky was the bump to Julie doing her final vocal run atop the platform - it seemed like a shot that was pulled out of a longer one, kind of wiggled a little - it shouldn't have been a problem as this kind of thing is planned out but it wasn't the SOLID cinematography of everything else. Any one else notice? (start at 4:06 )

I did too! With my gay best friend. The theater was huge and packed, and the cockroach scene in the restaurant had everyone howling with laughter... 😅 Weren't we lucky to be able to see fantastic movies like this on the big screen? In a better world, they'd revive all the old movie theaters that were pushed out of business by the VHS tape and show all the wonderful old movies like this one again...
