My childhood friend from our little farm town in Iowa moved to Naperville. I once visited him and his family after they had lived there a couple of years and they all turned into snobs, including the parents.

Our family was from the NYC suburbs, but we lived in a Chicago suburb (Downers Grove) for three years. I’d say Chicago was generally colder in the winter and maybe hotter in the summer, but there wasn’t a huge difference.

Regarding the complaint that it is too expensive to live in Naperville. The complaint is legitimate since Naperville is is very expensive compared to other suburbs. Any attempt to compare Naperville with downtown Chicago is very misleading.

As a life time member of the far western suburbs Let me state one unequivocal fact. Chicago is a Democratic cesspool. When his highness old man Daley was in power he ran the whole state, and we paid taxes so Chicago could benefit. The suburbs are a paradise compared to Crook county!

Are average Naperville homes being overbid or sold under the listing price?
It depends on the condition of the home. If home is prices well and in good condition it gets sold over asking. If homes is sitting longer on the market you can get under listing price.

Living in the south and west sides of Chicago for 28 years Naperville seems like a vacation. The people in Naperville are different because the posh lifestyle is not reality. Naperville is Karen central and privilege runs so deep it's just not real life. Go down the block to Bolingbrook or Aurora 5 minutes away and what I'm saying is obvious. I wouldn't want to raise kids here because of that, but nice compared to the city. Its a great place to work since you can park your car in a lot just outside the building unlike any workplace downtown.
When good time rent apartment
it is harder in the summer because everyone moves in the summer and more rental applications to compete with. Winter you may find a deal but not ideal time to move

There is one home for sale in Naperville at $299K. I have seen homes in Lisle and Woodridge in that price range
I knew a gal from Naperville. She lived across the street from the train station. I remember a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks. This was in 71, long before the gentrification of the Fox valley. There's no trains in Scottsdale but we have a railroad museum. Kinda of odd I thought. 😂
I was told there used to be a tunnel under the Naperville train tracks for cattle to cross. This was when Naperville was a farm town which is hard to believe now.
Don't forget that your new car will be a rotted out rust bucket within five years, thanks to the cursed salt trucks. My schools never officially closed from snow. They just had excused absences. I expect only a one-way trip to Chicago----in a coffin to my pre-paid grave.

Yes, the blue line to not connected to the CTA blue line. You would need to take blue line to chicago and walk to Union Station to get on metra to aurora

And for the movie fans, Wheaton was also the place where John Belushi of Saturday Night Live fame, grew up. The high school was on the corner of Main and Roosevelt road (Route 38). It is now a Mariano's Grocery store.
My mom went to high school in Wheaton and has mentioned her old high school is a Mariano's now. :)
