That noise the Stuka makes I had always heard in cartoons as a kid and thought it was a funny sound. It wasn’t until this movie where I realised “Oh my god that sound is meant to strike fear.”

My great Great grandfather was on this beach during the evacuation. I never met him but my father told me that he almost died On this beach. He had gotten shot twice. From what I’ve been told he never talked about the battle. Seeing. This movie I absolutely understand why he never did. Why would anyone want to remember this.

That wasn't a Stuka in the second scene. It was a lonely Messerschmitt Bf-109. A fighter, not a bomber.

Bombing hospital ships is normally considered bad form but if it is there to evacuate still not wounded soldiers it loose such protection. The same is true for the flotilla of civilian vessels that took part.

The RAF was bar none the greatest flying force of all time. Without them, the Battle of Britain would have been lost and England invaded by the Germans. No staging point for D-Day? Quite possibly. Thanks to Goring's ineptitude and Hitler's bad decisions, that was not the case.

One of the best movies I've seen...? THIS mawkish dreck which makes it look like they rescued about a hundred soldiers? Atonement did a far better job showing the scope of that incredible event which saved freedom for all of Europe.

Um filme que mostra o pavor da guerra sem romances inuteis... produção épica!
This is, by law, a War Crime committed by the Germans. You cannot fire up on wounded soldiers who are not actively fighting, medical based ships, or hospitals, even the Japanese during Pearl Harbor knew never to fire or bomb medical facilities.
