Wow, you did a excellent job with this video. I don’t think I’ve seen another repair video this good. No BS, strait to the point, very well explained and I could actually see and understand what you were doing. Thanks, great job
Way to be a Boss!!!
Thank you so much! I’m sorry glad you found this video helpful!!
Thanks again for video and pics. And especially torque specs. Btw which Manual would you recommend? I want one for my 89 4Runner. I also wonder if the online versions are as good as paper backs?
I like the Toyota service manual. Usually you can buy a PDF online for $5ish
Thanks , im going to need this but I need to replace the whole door on my Nissan rogue so if you know where to find instructions for that please tell me I’m trying to do this on a budget
You just take all the electrical out and take the hatch comes right off the hinges
You should use a spring puller instead of vice grips. It's a specialty tool with a small hook at one end and t-handle at the other.
The sounds can be programmed from a mobile app. The default password is 1234
🤣🤣🤣 best response yet!
Your video was VERY helpful, easy to follow and undoubtedly saved us $$$$ by fixing the problem ourselves. My '13 Avenger has 194,000 miles on it, is running great and now the driver's window is back in service! Thank you!
So happy to hear you were able to put your window back up. You must take excellent care of your avenger for it to be at 194k miles!!
Does this help with the rpm dropping ?
Not enough info provided for an answer. With rpm I would check coolant level and whatever idle sensor you have first
@@GirlieGarage meaning the crankshaft sensor?
How would I get my trunk to open if the manual trunk latch seems to be broken? My trunk is completely stuck closed
There is a manual opening procedure, check your owners manual
Thanks!
My goofie self forgot about the other peice I took off. I was like why is it looking down all sad like so I had to come look up a video. Thank you!!!!!
I feel that! That’s why I put the mistake I made in this video too because it was so easy to miss a couple things. Great job completing this yourself!
awesome!
My alternator went out today and I had to take it to the mechanic and I charge me $1100 with labor for putting in alternator and he said the alternator was $1000. I’m wondering why it would cost that much.
Sounds kinda scammy. You should call your local Toyota dealership and find out the retail cost of the part. If it’s less, you can get some $$ back (usually)
❤
Would this job require priming the engine after everything is complete?
When you hook your battery back up as soon as you open your driver’s door, the fuel pump primes
I wish I would have watched this BEFORE taking it to the shop!!
Hopefully you found an honest shop though! Building a good relationship with an honest mechanic could be worth it
this is such a great video illustrating the steps and different views, thank you!
I’m so glad you found this video helpful!
Awesome video! So clear and concise! I'm gonna try this, hope it goes as smoothly for me as it did for you.
Good luck! Scariest part is pushing the piston out of the caliper
Just used your tutorial to change my 2015 and wanted to thank you! Putting the last 12mm bolt (using the deep socket) into the bracket probably took the longest of the whole process. I ended up wrapping tape around my wobbly socket to tighten it, and taped the bolt onto the socket to keep it from falling out, and also had to reach around with my other hand with a long screwdriver to lift the bracket so the hole lined up. It definitely earned its "Dreaded" namesake, thanks again!
Proud of you for working around the problem and making it work so you could put the whole thing back together!
Dzięki za filmik przydał się
I almost couldn't watch it til the end tho as expected you did a great job what had a problem with this how you supported the vehicle it was at the top of floor Jack's maximum stroke with a block of wood, no tire up under or no jack stand very dangerous. Always and I mean always place the tire that you take off near you under the vehicle where the frame rail will sit down on it first and not you. please God protect yourself and others around you, but I enjoyed it very much thank you. ASE 27 years master Tech. PS, I was watching this video for bolt size reference I figured be a 14 or 17 and much rather watch a female work on a vehicle then a guy any day everyday .
I really appreciate you being concerned for my safety. This is a much older video, I do like to use jackstands for safety, and will keep doing so with your happy thoughts in mind! Hope your brake job went well
honestly i feel like this is so simple i should've known to try it but thanks a lot to Girlie Garage for the quick solution to a lasting problem. My wife will be so happy to see the grill area clean! Thank you!!!
If it doesn’t take it all the way out, try some degreaser with a dollar store scrub brush too!
What if my engine light don't work?
Then how would you know that you have codes in the first place? Maybe replace the bulb
How so very true. 😢
Masterful. 🤌
Thank you so much for this great video. It was very helpful.
My check engine light just stays on and doesn't flash I tried it several times. Unhooked the battery tested it again, tried with key turned forward first or hooking it up then turning the key forward nothing mattered...?
Maybe try a piece of wire or check the wiring at the service connector. It sounds like the pins aren’t talking to each other
@@GirlieGarage Thank you, I found out that it would not give a check code because the module itself was bad. The first test flash it does is a system check and if it cannot perform that the module is compromised. Thank you again for the response I appreciate the feedback and help...
that is super helpful feedback! Thank you for sharing and I hope your truck is happy again!
@@GirlieGarage Yep she is very happy. Thank you!
That gasket tho lol 😂
great info
Great videos. Love my element! Thx
Straight to the point, love it 🙏
You do not push the release tab out you push it in to release she is wrong on that aspect
Thank you so much!! 😊
Great video!!!
Exact video I was looking for my 05 Honda Accord is making this buzzing noise thanks so much appreciated 👍
And when you have a totally full back trunk and your car is in a tight garage it becomes HELL to try to get to that. hey lexus why did you forget the key slot like on a side door and every other trunk made? The UK version of the car apparently has one! Thank you again for the reminder of how- so much better than the manual!
Makes me feel like a fool but boy i want to take off that rentention bolt and inspect the fuel rail takes me about 90 minutes tire off EGR out all that.. maybe i dont have to but i still broke one and now the car is a paperweight till a used set gets here....ill try cleaning
Your video was a huge help! Your's is the best video on replacing the alterantor on a 5th gen 4Runner. You a100% right on the difficulty on the job. I also replaced my belt, that was also difficult to get it all lined up. Thanks for the video, you Go Girl!. Thank you so much for this video.
So glad you found this video helpful!! Great job on replacing the belt as well, there are SO many pulleys!
My key still won’t turn. Any suggestions on why
So the key not turning would be a problem with the lock cylinder/tumbler. You could replace it and have 2 keys (one for the door and one for the ignition) or you can contact a lock smith
Great instruction. Saved my broken latch. Thank you for making the video.
Good video. I’m getting ready to make this repair to my car and considered making a video, but you have it covered! Thanks.
Thanks 🙏
The video was a huge help! Left the dreaded bracket off on the replacement alternator. The 5 fasteners holding it in place are sufficient I figured.
What if the check engine light turns off when I turn car off. What happens if the engine stays running?
Fantastic video! Can’t believe this vehicle needed a new alternator! The vehicle looks new. Did you replace with an OEM Toyota alternator? Thanks!
This vehicle is new and did not NEED a new alternator but the customer wanted a higher output alternator for a speaker system + batteries he installed
For the upper water hose pulley-I took off the fuel line screw and simply moved it out of the way. Took me two minutes to get it off and no screws or sockets lost. 😎
Love this, thank you for sharing some helpful tips!
So the 1997 does Not have a removable sensor. I do however like your videos. They are pretty helpful.
WARNING: Do not attempt this repair unless you first have a right angle screwdriver with lots of different bits to choose from. I just performed this fix, so I know what I'm talking about (plus I'm Tom 'the Switz' with my own automotive channel). The screws to get the ignition switch out are in nightmare locations... very difficult even with the right tools. This video is excellent, but I guarantee you if you do not have a right angle screwdriver ... like the Pittsburgh ratcheting right angle multi-bit screwdriver set, and the correct bit, like CR-V6 out of the Warrior 33 piece security bit set (also from Harbor Freight) you will have a devil of a time. Best of luck!
Wow first video on this topic that makes sense!
It doesn’t work for every wheel and brake setup but it works a lot of the time! Also remember that if the front pad is low the back pad that you can’t see is often times just a bit more worn so make sure to catch them before you go metal-to-metal
Thank you so much for this video! I just finished this job on my 97 4runner, and your video was so helpful 🙏 😊
Wohoo! Congrats on completing this big job and saving yourself $$$
@@GirlieGarage thanks! I probably saved $2K doing this myself. It took longer than I hoped, but your video was soooooo helpful 🙏
