My alternator went out today and I had to take it to the mechanic and I charge me $1100 with labor for putting in alternator and he said the alternator was $1000. I’m wondering why it would cost that much.

  • @GirlieGarage

Sounds kinda scammy. You should call your local Toyota dealership and find out the retail cost of the part. If it’s less, you can get some $$ back (usually)

Just used your tutorial to change my 2015 and wanted to thank you! Putting the last 12mm bolt (using the deep socket) into the bracket probably took the longest of the whole process. I ended up wrapping tape around my wobbly socket to tighten it, and taped the bolt onto the socket to keep it from falling out, and also had to reach around with my other hand with a long screwdriver to lift the bracket so the hole lined up. It definitely earned its "Dreaded" namesake, thanks again!

I almost couldn't watch it til the end tho as expected you did a great job what had a problem with this how you supported the vehicle it was at the top of floor Jack's maximum stroke with a block of wood, no tire up under or no jack stand very dangerous. Always and I mean always place the tire that you take off near you under the vehicle where the frame rail will sit down on it first and not you. please God protect yourself and others around you, but I enjoyed it very much thank you. WARNING: Do not attempt this repair unless you first have a right angle screwdriver with lots of different bits to choose from. I just performed this fix, so I know what I'm talking about (plus I'm Tom 'the Switz' with my own automotive channel). The screws to get the ignition switch out are in nightmare locations... very difficult even with the right tools. This video is excellent, but I guarantee you if you do not have a right angle screwdriver ... like the Pittsburgh ratcheting right angle multi-bit screwdriver set, and the correct bit, like CR-V6 out of the Warrior 33 piece security bit set (also from Harbor Freight) you will have a devil of a time. Best of luck!

It doesn’t work for every wheel and brake setup but it works a lot of the time! Also remember that if the front pad is low the back pad that you can’t see is often times just a bit more worn so make sure to catch them before you go metal-to-metal
