Winter Hendrickson

Hi I'm Winter!
My page is all about family, adoption, foster care, seeing our God given dreams become a reality and so much more!
I'm a wife to an incredible man and mother of 4 amazing kiddos all adopted from the foster care system. I live in South Dakota! I have spent time over seas sharing Jesus' love in orphanages. From this I have a love and passion for kids that need a family! My Husband and I are also the Youth leaders at our local church and serve in lots of different leadership roles there! I am the Assistant Manager at a retail drug store in my community. I have worked in the business arena for over 10 years. I studied at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in 2009-2010.
If you haven't already, I would love to have you as a subscriber!

I have a question. The standard numerated allowable expenses for tax credit did not include the expenses for supporting the child (overseas) while the adoption drag on. Nor did the exclusion expenses included financial support. The child was an orphan. I adopted 4 orphans and send them $500 each ($2000 total/per month) month for their food, clothing, education, medical, etc. According to an AI, although this was not specifically listed, it can still qualify as an expense. The adoption was final and they are now here in the US. What do you think?

Don't even think about fostering a child unless you are super rich. The "authorities" measure your competency solely with dollar signs. You could be the sweetest and most loving family on the planet, but if you are without a fat bank account the foster authorities will assume that you are the scum of the earth. But on the other hand you could be a child pornographer and pedophile with lots of cash and the state will automatically assume that you are a moral person who deserves to have a house full of kids.

If foster kids are needy, they should not be treated like animals. That being the case, protective services for children and adults should be outlawed.

Found this in the irs web page www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i8839.pdf Check page 4 bottom page, seems like not even tax expert had read this part Children from foster care after the adoption are considered special needs so the adoption tax credit can be claimed in full, according to this page, even if you didn’t have any expenses. Also found a webinar in the website link she added on top, it explains everything for foster adoptions.

I have owned a 2009 Flex since 2015. It was wonderful SUV to transport my Dad Or Mother-in-law in. Open tailgate put wheelchair or walker in it. And still driving it yet. 22 hiway and sometimes longer trips 24mpg. Ours is cinnamon with cream top. And if didn't happen to notice. Tailgate raises higher. Than GMC Acadia Buick Enclave Chevy Traverse.

Native American children that have no connection to their communities tend to have long term mental health effects. Yes, the child is in a safe enviroment, but who is to say a Native American family can provide the same quality of life. Minus the long term mental health effects. Two or three years is minimual compared to 16 or 15 years in a person's childhood.

And hey, as another mama who welcomed newborns after infertility/recurrent losses, do not be surprised if it feels surreal when you have your newborn in your arms. Every time I've left the hospital with a baby it's been like, "Wait, this is really mine?! For real? Nobody can take them away?" It can take time to bond when it doesn't feel real yet.

I’m so happy for you Winter, you’ve helped me understand how hard infertility and adoption is. I’m hoping to have more child at 37/38/39, both my grandmother has children at 39. Some adoptive mothers don’t want to understand the biological mothers pregnancy, I’m so grateful that being pregnant has helped your understanding, it’s so meant to be.

Keep sharing your story Winter! All of it is so inspiring. My husband and I have faced secondary infertility and have gone through 3 losses along the way. It's really so encouraging to hear about your sweet miracle after 11 years and about all your fostering and adoption experiences. We hope to also foster or adopt or both and I'm still hoping for a miracle as well. I am so excited and encouraged anytime I hear a story like yours. Gives me hope for another day. God is so good! Praying for a miracle for your China adoption. I can't imagine how hard it has been to wait this long and to still continue to wait with no end in sight! What level are they rated? They are asking for their care needs. I'm new, but I think it has to do with trauma and disabilities. Most of the time you have to have additional certifications to make sure you can provide adequate care for the children. If it is your first time as a foster parent, they don't typically place you with children needing extensive medical care. Before accepting a child who needs a feeding tube or around the clock medical care, they want to make sure you are knowledgeable, experienced, and can commit to their care.
