Actually yes. In a professional environment smiling can be mistaken as an insult (ridiculing, thinking the other is incompetent) or at least as hiding your intents. Germans usually never smile at strangers or in a professional setting. Smiling at friends, family and loved ones is of course normal though still a lot less than e.g. in anglophone cultures and only in response to something (so if there is no obvious reason people will immediately ask you why you are smiling)

Ob die wohl mitbekommen, dass viele Fahrer die Pakete einfach nur spazieren fahren und das mittlerweile deutschlandweit ? Seit 20 Jahren bestelle ich im Netz, die Qualität der Paketdienste, vor allem DPD, geht langsam aber sicher den Bach runter. Besonders bei DPD. Keine Karte im Briefkasten nach zwei angeblichen Zustellversuchen. Keine Lieferung in den Shop auswählbar. Bei Zustellgenehmigung wurde das Paket abgestellt, geklingelt und so schnell abgehauen, dass ich nicht mal mehr das Auto gehört habe, als ich die Tür öffnete.
