This was last weekend, and we’d had a storm on the previous Thursday, so the snow was holding up quite well. For this coming weekend? We just had that storm yesterday, Wednesday, dunno how much snow they got at Snowbasin, but I’d think this weekend will be decent. But, supposed to be super windy today, and it’s supposed to get really warm by the weekend, so you can probably expect typical spring conditions. Which will still be pretty good, because this is a fantastic mountain.

looks very pretty...what do you think of copper overall in comparison to other Colorado mountains?
@ski-lift-channel4 ай бұрын
It has pretty much all you could ask for- very large, all sorts of terrain with steeps and cruisers and tree runs (trees are quite tight in many places, though). I was there on probably the busiest weekend of the year, on a bluebird day no less, so it was super crowded with long lift lines everywhere. But, they have a couple gigantic free parking lots with the best free shuttle bus system to/from those lots that I’ve seen at any mountain, and was only like 12 minutes away from my cheap hotel in Silverthorne. Three main base lodges/areas with a few more spread throughout the mountain. Biggest downside is that more than a couple of their chairs are old style fixed, non-detachable, and are sslllllooooow. Would be nice to get some speedier chairs in place. But, as far as the mountain goes, it’s on equal footing as the others in the area- A-Basin, Keystone, Breck.

@@ananya4040 The mountains are comparable. I like both of them a lot. But, I think the decision depends on where you plan to stay. Winter Park is just over an hour off the I-70, but is really close to Boulder, like 30 or 35 minutes I think? Copper is right on the 70, right in the middle of the action, only minutes from Frisco and Dillon and Silverthorne, so if you’re staying up there, Copper is the place. If you’re staying in Denver, I’d think Winter Park is easier to get to, but not sure.

This is one of those rare Leitner-Poma chairlifts to have monster combi sheave assemblies like this lift has on the uphill line with eight support sheaves and four hold-down sheaves. I can only think of a few other lifts that are like that, like the BreckConnect Gondola's combis, tower 6 on the Beaver Run SuperChair, and a few instances on Doppelmayr high speed quads like Plunge and Northern Spirit. These days, LPA lifts generally get built with 4S4C sheaves for combi assemblies with heavier loads, and 4S2C assemblies for more gradual changes in line profile. The top part of the lift also reminds me a lot of the Kensho SuperChair that Breck built several years later as part of the Peak 6 expansion, although Kensho has a much steeper ascent on the above timberline portion.
