are the rights available?
Uncle Fred was my hero.
Super excited I get to play the role of Mr. Christopher at my high school this fall :D
I am so excited to have this as our fall play at school!
How do I gain the rights to produce this play? Thinking about directing it this fall for my high school drama club. To whom do I write to?
Devon yess.....yess
My school is a condensed version of this play for a one act play competition. It is probably the greatest original non broadway stage play in decades!
My brother's school did this play! I just saw it last night! it was amazingly done!
We did this show during my freshman year two years ago. I got the callback for Emily and ultimately got the role of Sarah, Joyce's dead daughter. The interesting thing my drama teacher/director did by incorporating Sarah into the show was have her appear as a ghost, appearing several times haunting her family, but never saying anything. It was a great role and I wore an awesome yellow dress.
Ethel...where are your daughters,Ethel Ann and Margie? I remember you living down the street from us on Manison St. in Stoneham for years! Seeing the picture of you and Sonny made me realize it was you, then you mentioned your daughters, and I was sure! Contact me on facebook.
this is my grand parents
My wifes dad was also at Camp 59, there is a website called Survivors of camp 59...her dad's name was William Hall...Thanks for this video!!

my school almost did this show but the scene with jenny and mr. christopher was a reason we couldn't do it this show made me really and my drama club had went through a hard experience while making this show but it showed us we were a family
Gracious, this is the best show ever. We did a regional professional production at Stoneham Theatre and I just stopped thinking about it every morning. Where are you performing it?
Our school is doing this show for our fall play, and I auditioned for Joyce McGuckin - I have a call back! :D
Sgt Solberg, thank you for your service! Glad you made it back. Thank you for telling your story. Please encourage other vets to tell their stories, and get their experience on the record. I.
Perry and Kuttner did a great job of re-casting this love story to a Boston context - totally believable. The set and production were staged creatively - the small stage became a hockey rink! Great job! I.
I saw The Sparrow at Stoneham Theatre in Massachusetts last Fall. It is one of the most creative, artistic shows I have seen. Our staging was similar to the trailer - minimal stage scenery, with use of miniatures and pictures to suggest more elaborate sets. It was surprisingly effective! The story is compelling, and the acting was believable. Director Nathan Allen brought Dillan Arrick to star in the role she had created in Chicago, as Emily Book. She totally owns the role! Wonderful!
One of our local theatres did this show, and it was by far the most amazing show i have ever seen in my entire 17 years of living. My friend and I were sobbing after the show. Just, amazing.
Thank you for sharing this story. My Grandfather was also a POW in the war.
This is great stuff! I'm glad you included a woman World War II vet in these oral histories, and Ethel LaSalle's pride and good spirits really come across even in this short video. Nice work.
I want to see this so badly. Now just to find a ride =) Where did you manage to find those lockers at 0:32? I've been looking for so long.
It is an amazing tale from a wonderful man. Shana tovah Solbergs!
Absolutely one of the funniest plays I've seen in many years. Very contemporary, with laughter, tenderness and true friendships - Jack Neary is the new Neil Simon with a twist of Late Nite Catechism thrown in. Superb
