    @brandoncheney225 true. Though currently since covid happened alot of the companies that made mods for the renegade have closed and with the renegade being discontinued for the compass, finding the avid bumpers, skid plates, and proper lift mods to allow bigger tires has become next to impossible. :( still love my solar yellow renegade tho.

    Some really good off-road tires are the Toyo open country, they have M/T & A/T get the A/T unless you’re like me and you take your jeep on trails every weekend or on your way home from work “oh look an opening into to woods trail” then get the M/T’s

    For me the stock handle bars is awkward to stand on. I'm 5 ft 6 inches. I replaced the bars with AFAM enduro and put 2 inch risers. The stock handle bars is tricky to put some hand guards. You can drill the weights or push them in by hammering it real hard. Foot pegs are rubber and is not recommended for muddy roads.

    If they ever put a transfer case in the Renegade like they did with the Cherokee Trailhawk and put a rear Locker on it that thing is going to be a monster. I have the same engine and transmission as the Renegade because I have the 2.4 but it doesn't matter the thing will still climb a tree in low. It's a tremendous difference in power.

    @@off-roadingexplained8417 I also have a Renegade Trailhawk, but the EU specs one, with the 2.0 170hp diesel engine... I agree with you that the Renegade should have a transfer case, at least, like the old Fiat Panda 4x4 from Steyr Puch. The problem isn't the crawl ratio, but the clutch system that the Renegade use to have the 4x4 traction... Instead, the old Panda have a pure mechanic system: you pull a lever and you change from a FWD to a pure 4x4.

  • @off-roadingexplained8417
    @off-roadingexplained84172 жыл бұрын

    When I don't use my transfer case and when I don't use my locker, I'm like a renegade that weighs about 500 lb more and has 265 width tire. It's the same , mechanically: engine and transmission (as the 2.4 renegade). Exact same Transmission , ratios etc. I think the renegade winds up with 21:1 (instead of 20:1) probably because of smaller wheel diameter but that's a little pedantic to mention. Your diesel probably has more torque than my Cherokee. When were both in first gear , you will pull harder. When I'm in 4 low, I'll pull more than 2.5 times harder. I can climb anything basically without 4 low- same gears you have in that case. It's just not as controlled. 20:1 is still a lot of power. But my low-low is 56:1. The wheel torque produced is greater than the wheel torque that a 5.7 V8 Toyota tundra makes in 4 high. It's considerably higher. 56 is an insane multiplier.

  • @lowrangemaniac5326
    @lowrangemaniac53262 жыл бұрын

    @@off-roadingexplained8417 exactly! Sadly, the clutch system isn't as robust like a proper mechanic transfer case, and the Renegade have 2 sets of clutches: one at the output of the transmission and one at the input of the rear differential. Basically, when you're in normal driving condition, the Jeep disconnect the clutches from both the transmission output and the differential, and when you activate the 4x4 lock, those 2 sets of clutches get engaged, coupling the drive shaft and the rear differential to the transmission. Is a simple system that does the job, but it could get overheated easily if you abuse it in the wrong way, and it will shut down the car when the temperature gets too high
