Welcome to the knife surgeon channel. I’ve been into knives for my whole memorable life but I really got into knife design and multiple knife ownership in late 2011. I started sharpening for hire in 2016. I started customizing knives in 2019. Tons of fixes, experimentation, and of course some failures.
I hope to share my experience and knowledge with other users, and provide an alternative point of view. Everyone has their own feelings, but I’ve created my own biases instead of adopting the biases of others, and I think that really helps provide a refreshing spin. My main interest right now is on the acceleration of quality in Chinese manufacturing, but I’m certainly not loyal.

This is my grail knife….its so beautiful.
A man of few words
Hey. It looks like you got the scale contour perfect. Very nice. ✨😺
Hey @timothyruth4980, thanks for watching. I cant take any credit for the finish here except for the edge. This is a Blade HQ exclusive pyrite with the purple haze carbon fiber show side and a black PVD coated S35VN blade and titanium back. It’s my favorite pyrite version by a country mile. :)
Красавчик!
I have the previous iteration D2 steel version and the action on yours is leagues better. Curious if they changed more than the blade steel. I’ve cleaned and lubed the bearings to no avail.
Hard to find a knife shape like that very cool tho otf knives are one of my favorite knife hobbies and the best part is I can conceal carry them without a permit now and next month I can conceal carry a gun without a permit in July 4 hope it doesn’t get revoked ugh 😑
It’s a beauty 🤩😈
How long you had this?.. I would love to get hold of one with the old skull design on the blade.
I’m not sure. A long time. I’ve seen the skull bringing more of a premium than I think is reasonable recently. I’ve been reducing my overstock of ESEE knives but I think all of the extra skull marks have already been placed. I generally recommend the ESEE forum for people seeking one, but they’re becoming fewer and farther between.
Nice knife
Yes I have the dropoint and DE dagger in black but Where did u find this one? I can’t find on DH or Ali ?
Looks like CHEEDC has some on Ali for 230usd currently. The thumbnail does not show the asymmetric but it’s available under options.
Thats a bad knife🎉
Hard to be this knife's value. Looks great bruh🎉
🔥🔥🔥
Nice edge
Knife is gorgeous

Dude that looks amazing.
This is my knife bro. He's sand bagging on his ability to work magic on blades. You should post the Maxace Neptune you reprofiled
Thanks for the kind words. I finally got that posted up a day or two ago.
That's a damn good looking knife
Sweet knife. Been looking at it myself , Might have to get one now.
I am not as drawn to smaller knives like this, but the stippled version gets my approval. I think I would miss the added grip.
@@TheKnifeSurgeon I too prefer larger blades. I have their titanium Frag and really like it. I also have the xl Feldspar in titanium, fat carbon and m390 which isn't so great . I ordered the boa today.
I swapped my S90V Bowie blade and marbled CF scales from the Lamnia exclusive V2 into the V3 with titanium liners. It's one of my favorite and most carried knives, almost completely replacing my XM24.
I have the s90v and marbled CF version also. I missed that they had released a V3. I assume that since the blade and inserts were swappable that it’s mostly just the Ti liners that changed?
Looks great!!!
Oh, wow. Thats my old knife. I swapped the original black blade, backspacer and clip into a black handle.
That’s a small world moment for a one of a kind knife! I doubt there’s another like it.
That bevel looks way more obtuse, but also taller than the ~10dps edge on my K2! It has to be like 50 thou behind the edge.
Yeah. Huge bevel at 22° no less. Old ZT knives have the thickest bte thickness of what I have. The thickness behind edge measurement should be in the details. You’re super close actually at 0.046”. Good eye. There another one in my collection that will get a video soon.
Это кухонник зачем ему столько дырок… колбаска не убежит
Im a huge Maxace fan, but i was never interested in this model. I have (and love) the Mammoth though, and i see quite a few similarities between the two.
The pterosaur is a recent acquisition. I’ve drank too much of the maxace koolaid recently apparently. The hard testing videos that the maxace official channel puts up have cost me some money.
Great work on the ano! I did the same colors on a stealth chaparral, for a friend.
Not my best effort on the ano, but it was the first time I’ve tried to sand the ridges of such gentle slopes. I did the lock side first and it went okay. Changed the way I had the sandpaper wrapped on the show side and got a bunch of rash. More practice called for! The full spine jimping and the acid stonewash make up for it in my hand. Almost can’t tell that there’s both factory and added jimping. The added jimps have much better grip though.
I like this one yes!👍🏻👍🏻
Very cool. Maxace is fantastic!
I lost mine recently when an airline lost my checked bag. I have felt naked since. So I just bought a mint condition 0200st off of eBay. Not cheap but totally worth it. My 0300, 0308 and 0350 are great, but the 0200 just has the perfect “click” when flicked open that satisfies my adhd haha.
The throw back gen 1 winkler II the maple on the oldies was fuckin great darker hold on to that
It's so weird. The kansept website says that the blade is stonewashed, as well as the other site that I just bought the knife from. But every video that I look at shows a blade that looks like it is satin finished on this timascusversion. Is it satin? I hope it is. It really looks like it on this video.
Someone probably a little overzealous with the copy and paste. Nothing stonewash on my timascus version and I agree, all the others I’ve seen looked the same.
@@TheKnifeSurgeon glad to hear it! Thanks!
Not a better knife value out there.
Where did you find it?
I bought it new in October, 2013. It would have to be found on the secondary market now I suspect.
Can the belt clip be removed..? Will the sheath fit a Tek-Lock..? Thanks.
The clip can be removed. It’s held in place by a single hex head screw. There’s a small sticker covering the hole that allows the driver to reach it. The spacing does not fit a tek lock directly. The holes on the sheath are 1 1/8” apart on center and they follow the curve of the sheath. There’s not a place on it that three holes are aligned, not that a tek lock needs that. Tek lock runs 1” on center. You’d have to use some sort of adapter plate unless you only want to mount a single hole, which is how the stock clip is.
Damn that's such an incredibly beautiful knife. I feel like they missed an opportunity not making it front flipper as well. Wouldn't have taken much. I recently got the bestech lito- another ostap hel design, and it's the best small knife I've ever seen and owned. But they could've made that one able to front flip easily as well. Oh well, still amazing!
Ostap does a great minimal knife. The kratos and the arsenal feel really far removed from his general body of work to me. The Real Steel G5 Metamorph is another great slim and lightweight one. Especially in G10 over aluminum. It’s been on clearance at WMK.

I love Winkler knives, they are just so well made
Nice action. I tried to get one of these while they were marked down during a year-end sale but they were sold out. I'm a sucker for CF. Thanks for the video.
Wow. Thanks for that video. Another amazing WE knife. It looks huge (that's what she said). Better check the specs.
Great video, great fokus realy like this knife. Thank you.
I'll be the 1st to comment then, lol! I like the design but haven't held it yet. I see it is for sale at Mojave so I'll pull the trigger and see what the hype is about then.... I like the idea of what she did in mimicking Leek and I Love Ken so I believe she meant well and I admire her 1st effort. $29.99 what a steal!
Nice
Where did u get the blue carbon?
This is an aftermarket inlay from Chad Moss.
Have been thinking about getting these, they're very pretty.
How's the lockup/fit and finish??? I'm really considering grabbing one for a birthday knife, but if it's lockup isn't solid....I dunno.
I can only speak to my one example of this specific knife, but it’s a solid well made knife. Kizer can be trusted in my experience. I’ve owned about 25 of them and every one of them is solid.
I have the original Begleiter and the button lock one, and those are both amazing (although the first Beg button lock had a dangerously bad lock and bit me pretty good lol). That blade style is absolutely perfect.
@@TheKnifeSurgeon You must've been super lucky. I've had a bunch as well and some had questionable lockup, others were almost perfect.
Nice 🦊
Thank you for designing. Love your aesthetic!
Nice!!! Where did you get the Ti hardware from?
I’m sorry, this one actually came with the titanium already installed. Im sure the seller shared the info, but it’s been lost to time. I’ve owned this knife for at least 7 years.
