The BEST guitar off the shelf from peavey in the 80's. I payed 1200 dollars for one in 1990 it took me a year bussing tables to buy from a used pawn music store. It had a Kahler Steeler professional installed. A phase reverse switch and Adrian and Peavey designed single coil and humbucker in bridge. It was rated number one in a guitar guide magazine. You could play a lot of styles mostly metal on one. It blew Jackson USA models a new one going head to head with a perfectly setup one. Mine had a 24.75" scale length and i played it in D and drop C#. Well Mick let me play his Jackson stealth triple Hum at his grandma's in Nebraska. It was cool. And some other classics like the floyd equipped Kramer and other customs. Nothing came close to the riffage my peavey Adrian Vandernburg signature was capable of. My buddy had a B.C. RICH custom shop red warlock and it's pickups weren't as good. Well laterz. P.S. the original pickups were truly amazing and something else all together, and would be impossible to duplicate today. However you can do pretty good with the right pickups.

From owning the blue soloist here are my takes. Good neck, nice fretwork, great arching on the top. The Floyd 1000 is inferior to a German floyd, the backplate and control cavity plate are extremely thin, and the quilt top is absolutely wasted on this finish as you can't really see the quilt. I'd rather have them use simple maple for the top, upgrade the backplates, and take the price down a touch. Also, the biggest upgrade you can do on these is to lose the wimpy 9 gauge strings (that sound like spaghetti noodles) and put on 10s or 11s. A Floyd is remarkably stable with 11 or 12 gauge strings. The pickups are absolutely fine, no need to upgrade them.

Just ordered the same dinkey. I am eagerly waiting for it, but in the meanwhile i read a lot of people who are worrying about it being china made. How was the quality of these models? Any details you noticed?
@uvicjamesАй бұрын
Good question. Most of my instruments are USA or European. I have a few regular USA Jacksons plus three custom shops. These neckthrough Chinese models are built fine, but they may be priced a little high to a comparable ESP. Graphite rods in the necks so they'll take temperature and humidity shifts. Fretwork is fine. The finish has some weak spots and only the Tiger Eye and Fuschia finishes are suitable for quilt maple (the blue and yellow/blue models are really a waste for quilt). Binding is done well, the necks appear straight, no rough fret edges. The Ebony fretboard is likely dyed as pure black ebony is rare these days. I don't like the Floyd 1000, but that's not the builder's issue. If the neck warps or the like I'll come back and report it. The bolt-on models probably have similar quality. I am using the blue model from this video as a practice 6 string and it is fun to play.

:36 seconds in. The answer is generally. No. I've owned 3+ dozen ESP Japan, Usa Jacksons, 90's Japan Jacksons, 80's Fernandez, Killer ( Akira sigs, 6 of em, actually kinda my favorite in some ways) Eps Japan, Esp customs. Will will focus on ESP and Jackson. Eps Japan is a perfect guitar. 9 times out of 10 a perfect guitar, of unbelievable craftmanship/perfection. USA Jacksons. Hit or miss, but also more of a home brew feel, every one is a slightly different animal, and if you get the cream of the crop, the best imaginable mojo. Same for Charvel. ( this in leu of the renaissance of the last 20 years of home builders or indy builders, which is beyond this scope. That said, Schecter, was was never a fan of for a long time, is depending on your style, doing the best sht by far on off the shelf today. You can get a decent Jackson brand in the price level, even more so for an LTD, solid, for a long time, Schecter is killing it. and i would go LTD, but no one besides Ibanez has had a better control layout ( for my preference) in 40 years save for a standard strat. I would be a Jackson or ESP/LTD all day, but i hate their control layout. Ibanez, i hate their fretboard radius and basswood body ( necks are great) and pickup layout. I'd probably be a LTD or ESp boy, But rather USA Jackson boy if for the control layout. My Schecter Super Shredders are basically the guitar i always wanted even before i knew what i wanted. After you spend 60k on the gear grind, and you figure out what matters to you. Fk all else. OR waste money for fun. Up to you. Once you figure out what fits you. Just save pictures of your desires and jerk off to the idea of how awesome it looks, and save money. I 'd rather have ONE guitar that feeds my soul than a dozen whores. 😉

@@musicplayersnow yes I believe it is hard to play blindfolded. What I mean is that it would be fun to see if I would get it right to make the right judgements of every guitar according to their type. For example if they would give me the Prestige and the Regular then I should be able to know which one I'm holding because one of the differences is the Prestige has a flatter fretboard radius, 1 inch difference.
