Beautifully done with elegance. The piano chords are the foundation and the trumpet brings sincere flavor and character to this instrumental ❤

shoulda used a harder kick so it would hit better on verse 1, you can also splice the melody to make it more interesting or added second melody underneath that one, its a good beat tho respect man

I understand that you’re trying to achieve swingy drums, but I’m sorry they’re just AWFUL! Please keep practicing and train your ears more. Just thought you might wanna hear this.
@honeybeabeats22 күн бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. Yeah the swing on these were just played by me and no quantize. They stretch and pull like crazy but I lowkey liked the laid backness of them. I think this beat had most extreme swing effect. Appreciate it

@@honeybeabeats yeah like I said I understand what you’re trying to achieve, but the trick is to have one constant steady tempo and then drag the snare and or kicks. That’s how jay Dee did it too. Or have the hihats off grid, but then have the kicks and or snares on grid For example put all the hihats on grid, but nudge the snares and or kicks off grid. Thats how you get the magic. In this song everything is way too off grid. It needs to be subtle to sound good. 🤘🏼 I didn’t mean to pull you down or anything. I’m just trying to help. I suggest studying drummers or simply just listen and try to replicate j dillas drums. Especially from the 94-2000 era. Also it’s a common misconception that j dilla just played the drums in one take with no quantize. In the mpc3000 you can’t even turn off quantize. He simply layed down the drums one by one and then nudged everything off grid / added swing after recording, just like people do it today in a DAW. Sorry for the wall of text
