The boost doesn’t go to the waste gate…. The wastegate opens when you hit your desired boost level (psi) and bypasses the exhaust wheel regulating how much boost the is generated on the cold side that your engine sees. No boost comes out of the wastegate per se, you’re thinking of a blow off valve.

Interesting I’ve always wondered how someone does a proper wash of an F40 with the louvered back window. Perhaps owners stick to waterless/rinseless washing and completely skip the bucket and foam cannon?
