    Thanks for your valuable information. The only thing I missed is the part that has to be done before Logic comes into play. The setup in the Audio-MIDI Setup in Mac OS. If you have a midi interface, you should configure all your synth/keyboard there. This has the advantage that the correct device name is then displayed in Logic and all other programmes. This step may not be necessary when connecting via USB. I am not sure about this point.

    I'm intrigued, but I have a quick question. I thought the whole point of these was to do all the legwork for you regarding the room acoustics. Why is there an EQ feature (@ 8:07)? If I'm listening to the Steven Slate room, but then decide to turn on the eq and bump the low end up a bit, isn't this defeating the whole purpose of the phones and room model? I realize I could just leave the eq off...but why is the option even available in the software if the whole selling point of this is to model the sound of the rooms as they are? If I decided that my mix lacked a little something in the low end, it seems like fixing that in the mix is the solution as opposed to adjusting the room model. Still intrigued, however 😛

    If the devices in your aggregate device aren’t synchronized using hardware, you need to enable drift correction, also known as resampling, to compensate for drift in the data between devices. So you'll want any software devices (BlackHole or Soundflower) to have drift correction enabled. You can read more about it here: support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/audio-midi-setup/ams094c7edb4/mac#:~:text=Enable%20drift%20correction&text=Choose%20your%20aggregate%20device%20settings,Correction%20checkbox%20for%20each%20device. another cool thing is to create an alias of the session player to use on multiple tracks. this way you can change the chord track on the fly and everything will follow. then you can mute session player if you want. of course you can just change the AU instrument in the session player itself and create multiple players.. but just another method. thanks for the vid.

    @@knuckledustermusic It's a great feature. One thing I did with it (I haven't had a chance to watch all of your video, so you might talk about this) is that if you have the chord track set up, you can make a bass session player to play the simplest bass line ever, just whole notes, convert that to midi, and now you have a template to copy for basic midi stuff like pads, etc.

    Hello Goerges! great tutorial!! Is there a way to drag and drop an existing piano region from an older logic session into the global track in order to be able to have the session players follow? It's been very cumbersome to recreate my chord progressions in the global chord track. It would be great if you could record directly to the global chord track!

  • @knuckledustermusic

    Unfortunately this isn't a feature yet. You can play in a chord and Logic Pro will analyze it. So you could play your existing MIDI region bar by bar and have Logic analyze the chords.

    In logic proX the follow function seemed to be able to keep up much better with a heavier track. I cannot for the life of me get the same "feel" out of the AI drummer from 11, am i just doing something wrong, or is this something that is not the same as it seems to follow slower music better... It was a huge part of how I write, and now, kinda struggling with the new drummer, if he were real, i would fire him...lol

  • @knuckledustermusic
    @knuckledustermusic24 күн бұрын

    Ya you're right the follow does react a bit different in Logic Pro 11. In version 10, "following" would replace any rhythm pattern you had chosen and come up with a new one based on the track you're following. In version 11, the pattern remains selected but things will shift a bit based on the track you're following. So I recommend finding the closest pattern that you're after and then have it follow another track. If you're after something specific then you can input a manual pattern. They replaced all the drummer names too, so you can no longer fire the drummer by name 😂. Cheers Georges

    Hi George, thank you for this. Please could you advise me on a recurrent confusion I have? Basically I sometimes have difficulty getting a good guitar sound with certain amp sims (Amplitude mainly). I'm exploring various variables - but one that I don't fully understand is the role of direct monitoring vs monitoring via Logic. Well that's not quite right, I understand what they are (as in your vid) and I can turn the monitoring on/off in logic (& therefore get an unprocessed signal only). But I'm not sure how to turn of the direct signal ... so suspect I'm getting both signals in my monitors & hence compromising the sound. I'm using a Focusrite 4 pre interface. If I turn of monitoring in the focusrite control software, I just get silence. Please can you help?
