Ha. We're not ultralight, but we've tried to go as light as we can. My base weight (without food or water) at the start of our hike was around 21 lbs.

Love the way you document the little things you run into - i.e. the lizards and wandering dog. And aren't those little things as significant as the broad, beautiful vistas we see when we backpack.

Thank you! I think those little things help viewers to experience a little better what the trail is like. You can find much better images of broad vistas in other places; these little experiences are what make our trip unique and special to us and, hopefully, to you the viewer as well!

"Coulter pine cones are the largest of any pine tree and can we up to 8 lbs.. they are also known as the" widow makers" because of their large. They can be up to 20 in long and have large scales that look like talons. They are also covered in a thick sticky resin. " Wow! I've never seen one! That's cool!
