You can not add a scene and shadows at this point. All of that would have to be done at the beginning prior to this step.

When I export a mesh from Zbrush to Maya using GoZ, the orientation of my mesh changes 90 degrees on X axis. Is there a way to fix it? Not by changing every mesh every time manually, but by fixing GoZ? Thank you!

Yes, however you need to change your Maya settings, not GoZ. In Maya go to Windows --> Settings/Preference --> Settings: UpAxis Y. If that doesn't work try UpAxis as Z

I am trying to repeat your moves in this tutorial and I cannot help but notice that when my version of DemoSoldier goes to Maya, it appears to have a different scale. My DemoSoldier is so tiny comparing to yours. Is there a way to adjust a scale for any imported mesh?

If it worked once then not again with the exact set of images it means your project folder is not set properly. If dose not work with a different sequence it means the name of it most likely wrong. You need to change the _ to a .

When importing the model make sure that UDIM is checked. That should be all you need to do.

clearly need a video of normal/height/displacement from substance to blender, can never having the same "height" effect when doing the transition from the softwares, even with the bump or normal it just not look the same

I don’t know what’s happening but when I export the movie and I open it, ain’t in 360 degree.. I know that every single time I hit the button to turn he will append 30 + 30 . and looks everything normal, but when I exported don’t have the 360 degree. 😅

Hmmm. I should automatically convert it to what it needs. I've seen it not work before but never saying an unrecognized file type. Personally GOz has always worked just fine for me, however, I would say about 50% of the time it does not work for others. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why. When that happens, I won't fight it, instead I just export the old fashion way.

The real advantage of blender is that it’s FREE. When it comes down to really doing stuff, you really can’t compare both softwares. The good thing though is that Blender still gets the job done, and I think that’s the important thing.

Not only is Blender Free its better than Maya in a lot of ways. I feel that Blender looks at what Maya does wrong and fixes it. I feel I can model much more efficiently in Blender and I have 20 years experience with Maya.

Do you mean when you look at the images in the file explorer? Could mean that it’s viewing it in reverse alphabetical order. It should still be ok.

@@davidbittorf I've fixed it now, but for anyone else who has this issue: the first frame of the video has to be at the top of the screen, you need to change the ordering type in the import page to alphabetical. Mine was set to date for some reason.

I think if you merged all your subtools in ZBrush, imported into Mixamo, posed and imported back to ZBrush - you would not need Maya. Give it a try and let me know if that works.

this is useless in the case you have a partner using a newer version of Zbrush, you have a older version, you gave him the subtool created from GoZ in Character Creator 4, and lets say, you want him to create the shape of the face, then back to me with the face edited so i can take back to character creator 4 through GoZ again, what is gonna happen in this method, is that, once you click GoZ, its gonna create a creepy and horrible looking character morph, like a extreme mutations in character's arms and body, in simple words, its gonna BREAK the character. So, in simple words: I better get another coworker that DO HAVE my same Zbrush version.

This is a great point. The hack is only going to work when creating the character. Once complexity is added it’s not going to work anymore.

I think if you merged all your subtools in ZBrush, imported into Mixamo, posed and imported back to ZBrush - you would not need Maya. Give it a try and let me know if that works.
@@davidbittorf I think I have 2 issues. 1, I'm on a Mac. 2, I need the file from Mixamo to be an obj. file.
@@pags1989 the file should be either an fbx or obj. Both can be imported directly into Zbrush
this is useless in the case you have a partner using a newer version of Zbrush, you have a older version, you gave him the subtool created from GoZ in Character Creator 4, and lets say, you want him to create the shape of the face, then back to me with the face edited so i can take back to character creator 4 through GoZ again, what is gonna happen in this method, is that, once you click GoZ, its gonna create a creepy and horrible looking character morph, like a extreme mutations in character's arms and body, in simple words, its gonna BREAK the character. So, in simple words: I better get another coworker that DO HAVE my same Zbrush version.
This is a great point. The hack is only going to work when creating the character. Once complexity is added it’s not going to work anymore.
