    Move what out of the way ??? lol . As I watch your videos it is so amazing to hear of events that In my own past experience were the same . Loading fertilizer with a tractor , spilling a small amount of fertilizer into the radiator area . 911 farming , rushing to the next project and getting to put a new radiator in the tractor . Shop a disaster , yes it happens . I have to state the obvious , so much disappointment seeing waders , you never cease to amaze your viewers ... I used to have an up stream neighbor who always enjoyed dumping her grass clippings into my supply ditch . I never had such a fine screen set up , nice looking unit . That long suction is amazing , I never tried to get over 6 ft as the lift was a killer , one tiny vacuum leak and no prime . So much going on here that many have NO idea of the work involved . You guys are amazing . I could watch a circle work for hours . I considered them the most valuable piece of equipment I owned . It was June , it was cool and I did not have any say in my swim in the pond , it was cold ...

    The come along on the pump and smaller pipe under the road is to help keep it straight and secure. That’s a telescopic, and if it were to unhook or move it could damage the pump itself. All of that stuff is kinda secured because of the un level ground, and lots of water pressure. The river screen also is anchored in the event the pipes detach from that. Hope that answered your question.

    Your farm set-up seems to have (to me) very few people working there. I suppose that's why you have so many machines. In S.Africa they probably use more manual labour. Not sure what it's like on the big potato farms. So glad I found this channel: thanks.

    If I understand correctly, your irrigation boom swings in an arc: how do you irrigate outside the arc? Does the water pressure drive the swing/moving mechanism? We have many of these things which travel along the whole field.

  • @BellsFarming
    @BellsFarming8 сағат бұрын

    Because its center point is along the road. It will only make a half circle. But it will still reach most of the field. There is an end gun that will reach beyond the half circle. We just have to be careful using it because the road is right there.

    That's quite a bit of water! Is the flooding from rain or from snow melt? Here in the Southern Cape (S.Africa, Western Cape) we've had extensive flooding this past week (2-7 June), brought on by a combination of a cold front and a cut-off low. Major routes have been affected and towns have been cut off. People had to be helicoptered out of Meiringspoort (between Beaufort West and Oudtshoorn) and inland from Cape Agulhas what's left of roads seems to go through the middle of a huge lake. In Cape Town this week we had almost as much rain as in the first five months of the year. We had floods in the Western Cape Province last year as well. In Citrusdal (well named) some of the orchards are under water. One farmer may lose a whole orchard of two-year-old trees. Tere's a crocodile farm near the famous Cango Caves that was 4metres under water - this in the dry Klein Karoo!

  • @BellsFarming
    @BellsFarming14 сағат бұрын

    There are not the same regulations here. We have bodies of water that are off limits. But for the most part the water just has to be tested and clean for irrigation. Lucky for us.

    Love the wheel lines! I'm pretty sure the river is a whole lot cleaner than the irrigation ditches we swam in as kids in the 60's. Washington state. Easter WA is great for spuds! Short story, ~All overflow of fields ran back into the next ditch so by the time it got to our place, we pretty much swam in anything that was spread or sprayed onto the fields, then irrigated with siphon hoses. We lived through it, didn't we!
