There were several bands that had such a long hard schedule that it affected the men who had families. I can think of Randy Miesner as well as Bonzo. Others wouldn't give lead singers a chance to rest their voices- Journey for one. I guess the summer money was hard to resist but managers didn't have the same pressure as the performers. Hind sight us 20/20 of course but greed leads to consequences.

Robert Plant wasnt the nicest person back then around the time they broke up. He struggled surviving wanting to go solo. When he first went solo he did an interview at LIVE Aide in 1985. Jimmy Page was sitting next to him. Robert was asked now that Led Zeppelin got together to play for LIVE Aide today is there a chance we will get to see you guys get back together? Robert bragged on about how he has a solo career and is touring while Jimmy turned his head and rolled his eyes. Jimmy Page was successful when they broke up doing projects for Hollywood films, Disney, and the likes. Jimmy Page even did Charles Bronson's movie intro to the movie Death Wish. It was known Robert Plant struggled and his shows were horrible compared.. He also struggled financially selling a lot of his music rights to Jimmy for cash. His answers to being asked if LZ will get back together were always filled with how he has a successful solo career and doesnt have the time but it was his pride knowing he was wrong that prevented it when you dig deep.

Just listened to a few Coverdale/Page songs and no wonder Plant blew a gasket. Many of those songs are at the edge of Coverdale’s range.

It’s “Peart” as in “ear” with a P at the beginning and a T at the end. Think of words like: Clear Dear Fear Gear Hear Lear Near Rear Sear Tear (crying) Year.

Clapton may be jealous of Page. If I were him I would be intimidated by all four musicians in Led Zeppelin especially John Bottom and Plant's vocals are astounding.

They didn't leave JPJ out. He wanted nothing to do with them. There was some drama that surrounded the band and JPJ didn't want to revisit that.

He was self medicating for sure. I used to do the same thing. I quit drinking 10 years ago. I just stopped one day, and that was it. No cravings, no withdrawal, I was fine. I don't miss it at all. Not everyone who abuses alcohol is an alcoholic. Believe me, I've known a few alcoholics and they can't survive without drinking. They are physically dependent.

JPJ had already had to be convinced to stay in the band back in the LZ line up when they were at their peak. He was getting a bit itchy to do something else. It may simply be they thought he had moved on now that LZ had finally ended but the way it was handled was pretty poor. Then add on the fairly childish comments about Coverdale. A lot of egos in there!

Yes Eric Clapton disliked Led Zeppelin. To say he was jealous of them is completely ridiculous and absurd it makes no sense. Nobody is jealous of something they dislike. For instance if you dislike a certain vegetable and you see someone eating that vegetable, are you jealous of them? Or course not. When Eric says Led Zeppelin was too loud he probably means when they play live. For which they were "unnecessarily too loud," as he put it. I agree with Eric 100%. I too, don't care for Led Zeppelin, they just sound screechy and whiny to me.

I love Robert Plant, but he knows deep inside of his soul… if it wasn’t for Jimmy page, he may very well still be laying blacktop in the UK somewhere or maybe an elementary school teacher… Jimmy changed his life as a result of Jimmy page. He’s a multimillionaire that has got to travel the world and bang 16,000 women.

Take into consideration what the band was going through in those last 2 albums. RP was in a wheelchair for all of Presence and JP and JB were so smacked out/drunk during In Thru the Outdoor that RP and JPJ basically made the whole album. Carouselambra is a prefect example of the rift between the two sides of Zeppelin at the time and how JP buried the lyrics so hard they are hardly understandable. I hardly think any album in their catalogue is subpar, considering what each album represented and showed where the band could go.

When JB died, as a band there are so many things they could have done besides announcing a break up. They could have taken as long of a break if as they needed and said nothing. I was plain dumb from a business perspective for them not to continue some how, some way, at some point. They all floundered compared to where they had been. They could have done an album with all the best drummers in the world and put one on each song and see all their best JB impressions. Every drummer would take it like an opportunity of a lifetime. They could have done something similar on a tour.

Clapton should have stuck with Cream. His own voice is boring. He's better in a band where he's not the lead singer. He was in an alcohol and drug stupor while Led Zeppelin was becoming huge, so he's probably just jealous.

It's actually pretty common in Rock that the members of a particular band spend little or no time together when not in studio or touring, even while touring members don't see each other between shows. Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury of the Cult and Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend of the Who are prime examples. Sad but true. Once at an event/party where Daltry and Townsend attended, they were like two magnets when they got near each other, a force pushed them away from one another! I guess that's why it's called the music Business and not the music friendship club😅

It’s hard for any old band to recapture the heights of their youth appeal but they can actually grow within 20-25 years when nostalgia kicks in & parents drag the kids along like the beach boys, zep at 02, McCartney etc RIP Bonzo - we never got to see what an 80’s & 90’s zep might have created

"Stole songs"? Page reworked a lot of old blues riffs, the same as dozens of artists (including Clapton) had been doing for years. It turned them into Rock legends, not thieves. Rap artists rip entire riffs and stick it straight into a track, like they found it at a scratch-and-dent sale, and they call it their own. Saying Zeppelin stole songs is like saying Hendrix stole the Star Spangled Banner, or the great Blues artists stole their songs from country and folk artists. Page also said many times he was influenced by Blues greats, and he grew up learning and playing those old standards of the Blues era. It was bound to rub off on his style... but he made it his own.
