Midland is way behind the curve with this radio. With a non-removable antenna, 2.5 W is a joke. Good luck to you (not you, but in general) trying to hit a repeater from a few miles away. If you want simple, I'd rather spend extra $10 and get a pair of KG-805Gs. What a sweet little radio the 805 is!

I ordered this radio and so far very happy with its performance. I ordered a mic/speaker for it on Amazon because I could not find one on your business page. I downloaded and installed the programming to my win10 desktop, and bought a USB C cable. I can't get the V2 software to communicate with the radio. Keep getting COM port failure. The default is COM1. I tried up to com six to no avail. Does anyone have an idea what I may try next? Thanks & Cheers from Louisiana.

I've been using two-way radios since the early 1990s.I think General Electric or Ericsons used the term, Channel Guard referring to CTCSS and DTCSS

I've had a CB radio in my vehicles for at least 20 years. I just replaced it with a GMRS. After all those years I seldom hear any traffic on 19 and it's on all the time I'm in my vehicle. If I do a scan of all the channels I only hear someone yelling "Ye Haw" or some other useless information. Even when on the interstate and driving by a Pilot or Flying J I don't hear much traffic on the CB. Not sure that GMRS is much better but I do hear more useful conversation on it. I also run a ham mobile but there's no road traffic on the ham.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the point of these "premier" videos? I already heard the podcast, so it's not a live stream. It's like saying "here's a video that's finished and uploaded, we'll add it to your feed, but you don't get to watch it until we say so!"

The radios available is not the issue. Fire up the ole Browning Eagle and see how many transmissions you get per hour. Flip around the channels other than 19. 😅

After knowing what I know now, I never would have bought these with the intentions of making a repeater.

I have my General ticket and my GMRS license. When I first started mentioning GMRS in our ham club I would get some older (I'm 67) hams sneer and comment it's just another CB thing. Then they admitted they really didn't know much about GMRS. I've been able to educate them a bit. I pointed out that GMRS is the gateway drug to Ham radio. I've always been interested in radio. Did CB way back when you actually got a license. I went GMRS first back when it was still $70 for a 5-year license and had to renew last year. A few years after that I go my Tech and a year later, my General. My wife doesn't really want to study and test for the Ham side. She does, however, like having a GMRS radio in her car. We also use GMRS when out using HTs to keep in touch while wandering around events or shopping. It's a great thing for families to be able to use under the same GMRS license. I would love to have a GMRS repeater here in our tiny town. We're a small, rural county in south Texas. We have several GMRS-licensed people here. A few counties away there is a GMRS club with a nice repeater. They work with the local Ham club, REACT, CERT, and county LE, for a County Watch program. Neither is "better." Each service has its place. It all depends on what you want and need to do with each. Both can be part of your arsenal. Having knowledgeable capability across multiple bands and services makes you more capable in an emergency.

Here in the UK very few people use the "official" CB frequencies now that SSB and AM are legal. Most people are now on the high bands using USB (calling frequency 27.555) using "export" radios. I can listen to the "official" CB channels all day and hear nothing.

Thanks for the video, just enough info for my computer savy buddy to get the software and driver installed. It was a total pain and very time consuming. I wonder how a consumer product can hit the market with such laborious effort to use it.

Its definitely niche these days, but some truckers and off roaders still seem to use them, a be it not as often. I loved the CB setups on older Jeeps and got a used Uniden and Stryker antenna for my wrangler. Looks and preforms great!

Who is Mike Bluetooth and is he related to the historical "Bluetooth" from Europe? If you've spent more than a minute with technology, you'd know that "Mike" or "mike" is a guy and "mic" is short for microphone. So it's hard to tell if you really know what you're talking about, especially with the dumbed down topic of CB radio.

This is the name assigned to the product. President products typically have real life names such as the “Washington”, “Randy” or “Jerry”, so this product is just following that trend.

I get so tired of titles like "Here's why CB radio is dead" ect.. ect.. C.B is alive all over the world, we get skip even from the U.K, and we get drivers that come through some talk to us others complain about us being on 19.. I'm in the mid south, and it seems new people are always chiming in, it's not dead and with everything going on in the world has caused new people to pop up.. Amplifier sells are still up, yeah not dead yet. And no one uses F.M..

If you do not like the repeater owners rules, don’t use the repeater. Start your own and speak whatever language you prefer rather than trying to force repeater owners to cater to your wishes.

Any talk of digital modes? FM might indicate life, but maybe it's just a burst of methane from the decomposition of former life. Where are digital modes? These new models are probably largely software defined, so the existing features and even digital is relatively easy.

I've got little to no interest in talking around the world. I got my gmrs license for communication with family and friends in the Jeep off-road community. Ham radio has it's place, but not everyone wants to test into a radio service.

What if the repeater owner said no Blacks allowed? Would it be "his repeater, his rules?" He may own the repeater, but he doesn't own the airwawes. Those are a public good controlled by the federal government.

Never understood why everyone that makes CB handheld radios had such a big aversion to making a USB charging option for them, or why some CB handhelds STILL use AA batteries. Hopefully ALL handheld radios, from CB to amateur, will have a USB charge option before 2030. Recently got a USB battery for both my Ailunce HD1 and Anytone 878 plus. Ultimate goal is to have only USB charged radios in the small "radio bag" I take whenever I leave home, though the Cobra HH350 marine HT might not get that for a while.
