Hi Tom,in good weather I would say the descent route I took was easy to follow. If the weather changed the Cuillin Ridge is a whole new ball game.I ran into trouble on the ridge last year in Coire Ghrunnda.Clouds were so thick I could only see about 30 ft in front of me and nearly ended up Cragfast.Had to abort the climb.Due to this experience in the past,if the weather was clouded in or not looking too good before I set off for Am Basteir ,I would have left it for another day especially being up there solo.😃👍

@richardmiddleton6805 Thanks Richard.Probably the hardest doubler I have done.A lot of ups and downs inbetween them, some of it quite steep made for a slog of a day.The walkout from Mam Barrisadale was a lot boggier than expected too.😱🥵👍
I think I’ll have nightmares for a while over them bloody ferns for a long time. Something in the weather that day maybe as I was the same as Abel. Tagged the first one but didn’t fancy doing anymore. Was looking forward to a pint, food and the camp chat too much 😊
@Moffatmountainadventures hey Robert,😃 really hot going through them horrible ferns with no breeze whatsoever. Was tough going. If I had done them before I would have chucked it at that point as well, lol.Nice meeting you pal and look forward to ur vid when it's out.😀👍
@@AndyOB it was the heat and no breeze that got me. I’m no a small chap and for once I felt it. I’m built for winter 🥶 😂
I was sat opposite you on the boat going over on Friday, camped near you too.
@colingreer853 Ahhh hi Colin.😀👋👋.You were with Mustard jacket man then, lol?🤣It was a great weekend,eh and the midgies were nowhere near as bad as I thought they would be.Thanks for watching.😀👍
@@AndyOB Aye, I'm green cap man. It was a great weekend for sure.
Nice one Andy, cracking views when it cleared for you. Enjoyed tagging along. Atb. Mick.
@blamhof Thanks Mick.So glad when the clag lifted to give me the views.Great wee adventure made special by having to get a boat in.😃👍
Tough day Andy 😂 but it turned out well, what a beautiful sunset magic 👍
Thanks Billy.😀👍 Sunset was amazing that night and a slight breeze kept the midgies away for most of it.Not a convert camper but feel a lot better I have finally done one.😃
Nice one Andy, nice tae see you camping 😂😂 Looked a day and a half mate, glad you got the views as you deserved them after such a long slog. Why didn’t you stay for Larven.? You done it before.? Shame about Abel. I’m gonna take my bike over when I do them, cut the time down a bit. Great sunset and a great edit Andy👍 How many you got left now. ATB Frank
@hikingwithfrank315 Hey Frank, wasn't sure how my legs would have been next day and still toilling with the idea of getting Larven coming in on a boat from Arnisdale.Still no a fan of Camping.🤣🤣Have 7 to go now and I want to get them Mullardoch 4 feckers out the road next.Just watched Brian's vid last night. What a shift in that weather for u's.😱😱
@@AndyOB yeh so glad we used the boat Andy, as my calf started to play up as we reached the 1st summit, still sore by the time we finished, it was an effin slog mate in those conditions
@@hikingwithfrank315 Do u have a final Munro in place?😃🏴
brilliant Andy took me back to few weeks ago when i was there a fantastic place. that was a shame your mate couldn't continue at least he had already done them, so glad to see everything we missed with the weather looks stunning as well so weird seeing those views as we practically were just clagged in most of the day looked like you had a great time. Atb Ally 👍👍
Thanks Ally. This was our 3rd weekend of weather watching as I didn't want to go camping in crappy weather. When you have accommodation booked ur tied with what u get.😀👍 My pal even pitched my tent for me ,only the 2nd time it has been out the bag after a trial pitch 5 years ago.😅😂😂
@AndyOB I'm the same only had the camp up in the fisherfields this year hopefully in August get another one in the cairngorms just need this weather to change 🙈.
Who's this part timer Abel?? 🤐great vlog mate keep them coming inittttt plus the sublime tuneage and Brucie bonus 😅😅
Thanks Derek,glad you enjoyed it.😀👍
I’m mustard jacket guy! Great weekend over there, nice to meet you both 👍
@boomtish4520 Hi Mustard jacket guy, lol.😃👋👋Nice to meet u guys too.Think we done well weather-wise over there can't complain about a wee bit of cloud.Really enjoyed the adventure.Makes it a bit special that we had to take a boat in and out.😀
@@AndyOB absolutely. Planning to tackle that side next time so good to see. Cheers!
Good stuff Andy , glad the views opened up when you got on to Luinne Bheinn. A fine pair of Munros , i need to go back for Ladher Bheinn ...Pity your pal wasn't up to it but another two in the bag for for you mate ..Nice one ..Stevie
Thanks Stevie.I have got to go back for Ladhar myself and looking at all my different options for it.Could be my final one.😎🏴 Yeah my pal is a camper like urself Stevie, and he was there to keep me right. Not been out regular recently so felt he would hold me back.Still canny believe he had the energy to do the 3 Munros when he done them where I found the 2 hard enuff.🥵🥵
That was stunning Andy. Lovely to meet you both at the weekend too btw
@Moffatmountainadventures Good to meet you Robert and looking forward to seeing ur Knoydart vid when it comes out.😀👍
@@AndyOB hopefully it’s not too bad. Aiming for a week on Thursday
Great video, thanks.👍
@gunners3243 thank you.Glad u enjoyed it.😀👍
Wow loved watching this, great hike & views, wer going there this year for the 1st time💪😁
@@Borkyswildcampingadventures Thank you.😃👍 Skye is an amazing place.Hope you enjoy ur visit.😀
That looks scary - I know I will have to do it one day, but I'm horrified by that fact, especially after watching videos like this 😁😁😁😁. Contrtary to my wife. She thinks that peaks without scary ridges and exposed pinnacles are not worth her time 😜😜.
The bad step did make slightly nervous but took my time going down it.Just a few footholds you can't see at first.A lot more simpler going up as you can see all your moves.Rest of the scramble is pretty straightforward. If you are unsure maybe think about a guide with safety rope option.😃👍
The cheesy music spoils this video mate maybe some people might like it but in my opinion it destroys a brilliant video I love to hear the wind and raw sound of the hike! Just some advice no hate just putting it out there 🏴
@glasgowbhoy8711 Thanks for your opinion/advice on the video.Had a wee look at your channel to see if I could pick up any tips on making videos and watched all of your content which took about 1min 30 secs of my time.Couldn't find anything.🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍🏴
@@AndyOB 1 min 30 seconds??? U musta watched all the videos twice 😂😂😂
Well done Andy. That's some mountain. That ridge line looks quite imppsing when you're walking towards it. The bad step looked tricky, but you captured it well, trying to find the hand holds. Congrats on completing the Skye munro's. ATB Andy
Thanks Andy.Lucked out with the weather on this as it wasn't looking too good when I crossed the Skye Bridge in the morning.Thankfully the clouds cleared to give me some views and I didn't fancy taking the ridge on in low clouds.Been there, done that and nearly got myself in serious bother up there before.😃👍
It's a beautiful yet somewhat dangerous hike, but reaching the top must feel exhilarating. Well done! My dear!!😊❤👍👏
@@chillhopmusic000 Thank you.😃👍
Nice one Andy. Love the views on the way up, near that gorge coming down from Gillean, really nice approach to the ridge. Well done on that bad step, looks tricky to down climb with the hidden footholds.
@andy-astro Thanks Andy.Had another look at ur vid and the photo u showed me of the bypass path before I went.To be honest the step looked safer, lol.🤣🤣 Just took my time getting down it pal and it was pretty straightforward going back up as u can see all the moves.😃👍
@@AndyOB Yeah, the bypass looks ok in pics and videos but when u get there it all kinda looks the same. Took me a bit of looking around to find it. Probably safer in the cloud to go over the bad step for sure, rather than faff about looking for the route around it. Any plans for after the 282, maybe the Corbetts, or revisits to the claggy Munros from your round?
Probably give the Corbetts a go Andy, and maybe try some of my fav Munros from another direction.I was fortunate to put a lot of plan B's in place when the weather was clagged in and done the not so good ones instead and leave all the belters for better conditions.😃
congrats in completing Skye munros Andy . we found that one a bit of a Basteir too . Well done your going strong and determined 😁😁😁😎
Thanks @LarryBees.😃👍
Gripping ..is route finding difficult on way down ?
Hi Tom,in good weather I would say the descent route I took was easy to follow. If the weather changed the Cuillin Ridge is a whole new ball game.I ran into trouble on the ridge last year in Coire Ghrunnda.Clouds were so thick I could only see about 30 ft in front of me and nearly ended up Cragfast.Had to abort the climb.Due to this experience in the past,if the weather was clouded in or not looking too good before I set off for Am Basteir ,I would have left it for another day especially being up there solo.😃👍
@@AndyOB Thanks for that ...not a place I'd go solo if i were able ...used to walk a bit solo but not now ...too old at 77!
Well done Andy 💥💥💥👍👍👍
Thank you big Frank.😃👍🏴
Brilliant what a mountain Skye is truly awesome
Thanks Andrew. No other place like the Skye mountains.I remember the 1st time going over and looking up to them and they looked pretty scary.😱👍
Brilliant Andy, loved it.👍 Skye is such a beautiful place and the Cuillins are something else. Well done mate going solo down the bad step, some of the holds are hard to find as you know.👏👍. The views coming back down towards SNG are spectacular. Thats some drop coming off Am Bastier at the other side. Well done on completing the Skye munros Andy👍 ATB Frank
Thanks Frank, great to get them all done on Skye.I have had the "Bad Step" in my head for years.🤣🤣 Really proud of doing 10 of them solo and only 2 with a guide.Out of all the mountains I have done in my time , I would say 80% of my squeaky bum moments have happened on the Cuillin Ridge and there us only 11 of them.🤣🤣👍
Love it Andy and well done. Skye Munro’s are the only ones where you definitely need to use hands as well as feet which makes it a special place for me. Richard.
Thanks Richard.Yeah, the Skye Munros are deffo a level above the other ones.Had a few squeaky bum moments on these ones to keep the adrenaline going, lol.😃👍

@mawebb88 Thank you.Glad you enjoyed the video.😃
That looked guid Andy. 👍😎 Cannae wait tae get on the cuillin. You been up there before as you negotiated the bad step with ease. Looked abit tricky likesay
Thanks Kev.The Cuillin Ridge is so different to all the other mountains in Scotland.I aways have an extra bit of nerves more so than anywhere else when I set off. 1st time doing Am Basteir. In fact this was my last one to do out the 12 of them on Skye. 10 of them Solo 2 with a guide.😃👍
Love Skye.. One of my favourite places on the planet.. Thanks for sharing Andy, brings back great memories...
Thanks Richard ,glad u enjoyed it .A lot of amazing memories for myself on these mountains.
Awesome views
Thank you.
Excellent hike to two remote Munro’s well done I love Glen Affric
Thanks, Andrew.Yeah, glad to finally get these 2 done at a 2nd attempt for me.I wouldn't say the are difficult ones it's just a long day and a hard slog from whichever way you come in to the Hostel to start the ascent for them.😀👍
Superb. Like that route, one we’ll need to try. 😊
Thanks D and L.😃👍 Just never fancied the slog up the Great Stone Shoot.🤣Tried to do along with Dubh Mhor and Eag a few years ago but strained my leg and dropped back in Ghrunnda.Always wanted to see the Bivi Cave and i'm so glad I went back in this way.😃👍
@@AndyOB… Hi, we’ll definitely bivvy in the cave. Take our time and enjoy. We once tried to do The Eag.. lol… we failed. Weather wasn’t good so went back. Your video has lit a spark again though. Thanks mate, and all the best. D&L 😁🙏
Belter o a day Andy. 😎Still tae get intae that area likesay.
Thanks Kev.I thought the 12 Mullardoch round over a few days camping would be ur way to get them kev?😀Met a guy who was going round with all his gear.
@@AndyOBHaha aye I'll maybe break them up in separate trips & camp them. Aw 12 oan a camping trip wid probably break me. 😂
Nice one Andy. 2 more! You must be closing in on 282 now! Looks a nice area. Not done that many up that way. Cheers and ATB, Andrew 👍
Hey Andrew,Glen Affric is stunning.Really remote feeling to them and a lot of big days involved in getting the ones here.Tom a' Chòinich & Toll Creagach is probably the easiest ones to get and were my first up here.😃👍
That was a good walk Andy still got them to do so good to see the route how long did it take on the bike to the cottage? The ebike makes some difference it's be a lifesaver to me the know as my back been sore for last 3 months. Atb Ally 👍
Hey Ally, the cycle in to the Youth Hostel took me 1hr 11mins.When i came in to do these in August, I never made it all the way and ditched my bike with about 2 km to the hostel as i was struggling and walked the rest.Only managed 1Munro that day (An Socach).First time on an e bike and what a difference it made.😃
@AndyOB that's good andy not bad then just over the hour on the bike, I've been using the bike a lot been loving it .Atb Ally 👍
Superb, did the same bike and hike for the 3 a couple of weekends back....hard shift
Thanks Barrie,it waz my 2nd attempt at this route only managing 1 back in August.Great day weather wise once the cloud lifted.😃👍
Well done Andy Amazing Achievement brilliant coverage gods country your the Man 👍👍💥💥💥💥💯💯💯💯💯💯
Lol,thanks Frank.Glad u enjoyed it.😃👍
The old e-bike ❤! Makes a huge difference eh Andy! When you past the hostel I thought you were going to cycle right up the hill! 😂. I need to go back to do the other three and I’m going to cycle in too! Cracking Andy 😎😎
Thanks Paul.First time on a e-bike and what a difference.🤣🤣👍 My 1st attempt at this route was a disaster due to being exhausted after the cycle and only managed An Socach.See heading back out and driving down the road that day knowing fully that I have to go back in there ,it was awful.😱 1hr 10 mins to get to the hostel this time and was buzzing for the walk ahead.Only 1 more bike/Hike left for me now at Poolewe.😃👍
@@AndyOB nice one! So much easier on the e-bike! I think one more option to use the bike for me is Glen Affric too! After that there’s not much left on this round 🥴🥴🥴
Brilliant Andy, some cracking views you got there, got those 3 bad boys to do later this month. How did you find the e-bike, some diff eh. You do all that in one day, house to house.? Cracking wee tune again Andy.👍 Enjoyed that mate. ATB Frank
Thanks, Frank. Some difference with me hiring an e-bike.🤣👍 I was gubbed last time I tried this route and flung my bike in a bush just after the West Affric signed bridge and walked the rest to the Hostel.🤣🤣Done the cycle in 1 hour 11 mins and was off the bike just for the push up over the bridge at Strawberry cottage and walked up the hill after it. Drove up Friday after work Started from Car Park at 5.30 am. 11 hrs 49 mins car to car. Drove down the road via Fort Bill and home for about 11.15pm Saturday night.😎👍🏴
Brilliant Andy, what a day you had, we were probably walking along loch mullardoch at that time, how did you find the E-bike?
First time on a E-Bike Tam and what a difference.Last time I was in here I ditched the bike well before the Hostel as I found the track energy sapping.Only done An Socach that day as my legs were gubbed.Done the whole cycle with ease on this bike.1 hr 10 mins on the way in and I think I was even faster on the way out with 1 hr 5mins.🤣🤣👍
Brilliant Andy. I've just got myself one thought the cycle to work scheme, can't wait to give it a go 😀
Great day Andy and fantastic views 😁😁
Thanks Billy.Glad to get these 2 done.😃👍
Well done finally getting to the summit Andy cracking day but a tad windy . still to venture to skye but cant wait to eventually get up there seen a few of your videos from the past trips up there brilliant. Atb Ally 👍
Thanks Ally.😀👍 This one was turning into my Nemisis🤣🤣 so glad to get it done on the 3rd attempt.Just 1 more left on Skye for me now (Am Basteir)
Really surprised that you didn't get a lot of likes or comments on this video, I personally found it fantastic. Brilliant footage.
Thanks for ur nice comment Marco.Glad u enjoyed the video.I've always put my videos up as a keepsake memory for myself of a day out.If a fellow hiker gets a help from it on the route that's even better.Never been one to advertise my channel or ask folk to like and subcribe.Always nice to get a comment like this.😀👍
I only have a road bike. Do you think the track is good enough for some more rugged (puncture resistant) 28mm tyres to handle?
Most of the track up to Loch Pattack is a very good conditioned gravel road. It's only when you cut over to the bothy it gets a bit rough and muddy for a couple of km's.
Another brilliant video, Brucey! 😁👏🏻
Thanks Gabby.😃xx
