I never met a Religious Sister I was afraid of (and all my Grade School Teachers were Franciscan Sisters) until after their revolution in the late 60s. Then i met some with an axe to grind, and had become mean-spirited and vindictive--hostile as hell. Filled with, as the book about them said, "ungodly rage."

EVANGELICA LEADERS ATACK THE CATHOLIC CHURCH OFTEN?: *HELLO PASTOR MICHAEL YOUSSEF, Feb. 200022 I Iisten to your sermons daily & most of the times it's interesting! Today you said that some Christians hide themselves in convents to avoid persecution, etc. Truly, what you said is NOT right. Monks & Nuns do lots of WORK: teaching at the Catholic schools, working at churches, visiting hospitals & families, visiting prisoners, working with the homeless and doing missionary work, to name a few. Also, they pray & sing daily for 5 hrs - & they rise very early to pray. St. James said that prayers of true Christians bear lots of fruit (James 5). Frankly, God will judge us for whatever we say & do; the Gospel says that our work will follow us for eternity. I hope you will correct this misconception & apologize to your listeners. I believe that those who apologize for their mistakes are honest and brave people. And the first 12 Disciples made many mistakes especially during the first 3 years and the Lord corrected them each time as He often does with me. Kind regards. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6, 11-18

Back to the past and an angel take the hindmost. Why change the habit of a lifetime. A London stage actually collapsed when mounting a production of The Sound of Music and in Oxford cinemas a gang of students would regularly reveal German uniforms under their raincoats and give Nazi salutes once the troops appeared in the film to absorb Austria. Christopher Plummer called the film The Sound of Mucus..

I can understand that you can respect the sisters, but wearing a hijab, and wearing a habit are two very different meanings, a black **burkka (sp) is has a very different meaning than the black in the habit. A hijab is for modesty, a habit is a symbolism for being dead in the world. The one thing you have in comparision is shorn hair. There are certain orders that the women/girls are to sacrifice their hair and keep it extremely short or even shaved.
