@@poelogan thank you, I will do that
this is a masterclass on ableton keymapping, didn’t realize a lot of this stuff was assignable 🤩
@vxe1392 thanks! Glad you found some new stuff to play with
Thank you
you're welcome. LMK if you have any questions
I like this track you were playing with the synth and vocal around 1:32 time marker. How can I get this track?
great track! Josh Butler "Got A Feeling", Bontan remix. I think from 2013 but it still sounds great, here's the video. Check on beatport maybe kzread.info/dash/bejne/jIRhm49rgsXKeZs.htmlsi=st31YsYQDZQ_tFaB
And the Frequency Sweep Technique EQ tutorial mixitecture.gumroad.com/l/freqsweep?layout=profile
Awesome video 🤘🤘 In OBS you need to turn on the "record mouse" in the settings. People like to follow mouse movements. And if you can..color the mouse pointer to yellow or something instead of black in the windows settings. A lot of times people move their mouse fast and it's hard to track where it went,. lol. 💜💜💜
thanks! Got the green mouse pointer setup, will double check my OBS param's
Really cool video, so you should make the mix balanced and then boost it after exporting it? also that song sounds amazing, whats it called?
yes, make a balanced stereo mix first and export it with lots of headroom at the master channel. Then do a separate mastering session to make it louder. Glad you like the music! That track is an unreleased original beat I made for teaching
Just what I've been looking for-thank you! Don't quite follow the tempo nudging ... is that just a listening tool to hear that your tapped beat lines up with the metronome? It doesn't change anything like tempo, track, mark 1.1.1, etc., right?
Use Tempo Nudge to match the metronome to the unwarped track. After the track is warped, you can use Tempo Nudge for beatmatching to a vinyl record or to another DJ where there is no Link and no Sync
i am a long time ableton dj'er and still learnt new stuff thank u!
you're welcome, thanks for the msg
This is one of the best videos I've seen on DJing with Ableton. I haven't seen anyone else has cover the looping and phase nudging techniques called out here. Thank you for sharing the knowledge!
You're welcome! That's why I do this, to have fun sharing cool ways to do it
@@AbletonHybridDJs As someone who has experience DJing with Ableton, where would you rank playing a DJ set with Ableton vs CDJs or other more popular tools? Any preference or gains to one or another?
@@sunjaculley CDJs are the global standard for DJ'ing, so it's important to know how to use them, when you bring your tracks on a USB flash drive. But Ableton allows us to do a much more creative performance. DJ'ing with CDJs will let you play in more locations, and it's great for jumping in to play a one-hour set with other DJ's. Ableton is good for longer sets, and adding multiple decks, FX, MIDI instruments, and especially using microphones in a set for singers, MC's, drummers, etc. Does that help? What kind of music are you making?
@@AbletonHybridDJs Thanks for sharing that insight! I'm making IDM and techno, and like to play techno, although I've only learned to DJ with Ableton so far. I built a fun 4-channel hybrid setup with midi controllers in Ableton and I've enjoyed playing the setup that I've built more than when I’ve tried CDJs, but I know I still need to learn to use CDJs if I want to play more places. This video has helped me understand how to play better b2bs with my CDJ friends though!
@@sunjaculley oh great! if you're playing your own original tracks and doing hybrid sets, Ableton is great! can you please DM me a link where I can hear it?
Just sounds like noise added to it
can you please tell me the timestamp in this video where you hear that? Curious what you hear. And yes, sometimes a little fuzz is noisy
This is making me regret buyng my Pioneer FLX-4 . Had no clue you could set loops this easily. Looking forward to the rest of this series
Thanks, glad you like it! Episode 5 is ready, more fun stuff with loops kzread.info1Ey1g6KZObk?si=W8mMyNDEpIfH2n-F
@@AbletonHybridDJs I'll check it out. Do you know if that looping shortcut can work multiple tracks at once? I'm looking into DJing with stems and would love loop them all
@@OtisKanno the key mappings would not work for looping multiple tracks at once, but the answer is in episode 5! you cut loops in advance, for all the song sections you want to play with in your stems, then use the Master scene launch button to fire them off from Session view. you're gonna be a maniac!
Too fast. I cannot follow when you fly through.
Sorry, that's my fault for talking too fast. Do you have a question I can help you with?
@@AbletonHybridDJs nothing to be sorry of. It’s not your fault i’m slow. I left ableton 6 years ago, i’m back acting as if i was here the whole time. I set my expectations too high. We’ll definitely talk soon enough.
EXACTLY WHAT I NEED! I've been wondering how to imitate DJing's hot cues and looping techniques to buy time . i really appreciate how detailed this explanation is. This is gold! Subscribed!
thanks, this is super fun when you play with it :)
It’s really hard to follow what you are doing and which parameters you are tweaking when your mouse cursor is hidden
oh wow, sorry about that. Didn't realize the mouse was missing! Thanks a lot, I'll check it out
New subscriber here. 👍on the in video. Great tips! ✌️❤️🎶 DJ Simply Nice
thanks a lot, glad you liked it
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Really great stuff in this video! I’ve never DJed before but have wanted to for a long time. I’ve been using Ableton for a few years and always wondered what a good way was. Would love to see Episode 2 cover a Push set up!
thanks. I will do the next episode on using Push.
Get the template here and start building your set! store.mixitecture.com/l/DJ1
Does The template runs in Ableton live 12 ?????? Thanks for yout advices and expend your time making this videos!!!!
Do you know voodoo live tools from max4life? Im shure It should be very useful in your future templates
@juangonzalez-gt6wu yes, it works in Live12
amazing again! thanks for the video! question is there a way to map the warp markers so that the loop doubles up or halves?
yes, it's even easier than you think! There's a little button in the warp section to double or half the speed. Look for the '2x' button
Why is the level going up when you click the peak level meter? I don’t see any of the parameters moving. What is going on here? Wizardry as far as I can tell. Been using Ableton for 15 years.
good question. the level is going up because I put automation in the EQ and compressor effects. The automation shows you an example of gain staging in action. Then you get to do it yourself, right there inside the project. That's how I build my tutorials, you follow along inside Live
@@AbletonHybridDJs So you're not clicking on it?you're just hovering the mouse over to show it. lol I was looking at the wrong thing. Gain staging is a concept I have yet to fully grasp, even though I have a degree in audio engineering. A few semesters in actual upper level audio classes is not enough to fully grasp these concepts and no one in pro audio really focuses on Ableton Live.
In that video clip I was clicking the Peak Reset button above the meter, to show how the peak level was changing. Gain Staging is pretty simple when you change one concept: look at it as a process of constant measurement, rather than a setting to be fixed in place one time only. Probably easier if you just download the whole lesson and go through it. Here's the free intro so you can see what I mean store.mixitecture.com/l/msfb
Thank you for your time to make these video series! Can you suggest what controllers can I use to perform live dj set with ableton? I've heard that Akai Apc 40 is good, apart from it what else can you suggest? Thank you!❤
the Akai LPD8 is also good because it's small and cheap. I got two of them and set them up where one was for track launching, beatmatching and scene control, the other was for looping and FX www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LPD8mk2--akai-professional-lpd8-mk2-mini-8-pad-usb-controller
and you can find the DJ template here store.mixitecture.com/l/DJ1
£25 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 wow
@@yeah-I-know thanks @MrPhotoDudeYo, the fun thing about my templates is how they come with built-in lessons that guide you through the whole thing, so you get a template to play with AND instructions on how to use it. Thanks for the comment.
This is nice! Please make the next episode in full HD 1080, preferably in 60Hz. This is only 720, it's usable but why? 😀
hi Martin, thanks for the comment. Solved that by increasing the bit rate of my streams. Thanks for the note.

As a former mashup DJ, I have used Ableton to DJ for over a decade. You can do everything a normal DJ can do but much much much more. You need to put everything into the set up, from each track to the 'rig'. But after that the possibilities are endless. I don't use headphones at all, just cue points.
totally agree, thanks!
btw, where can we hear your music? Drop a link to a set, I'm always looking for new beats. Thanks! Steve
Brilliant! What laptop do you use to DJ?
@@RockstahRolln I first built this DJ set on a 2012 MacBook Pro with 8gb ram it doesn't take a lot of processor power :)
Basic and cool stuff, great video and waiting for The next!!!! Greetings from Spain!!!!
thanks Juan
Bro, what part of Spain? We may be moving to Malaga
Im living in Vigo, Galicia in The north of Spain, Málaga its a nice place to be, good weather, Sunny days... I Hope you spend a good time there guys!!!
I have recently tested this method and I can say that I have finally found the true gain stage. No other method worked for me before, neither with the famous "0vu" nor with peaks at -6dbfs. Amazing mate, you deserve many more views. Finally my mix sounds like the big ones! Thank you!!
Love refreshing with Steve
I use Fab filter for an easy dynamic EQ and sound design. EQ 8 for actual mixing.
Thanks Alex!
