My favorite isomer is Bi-210m. It can be triggered easily by a deep UVC pulse, by incorporating it in a z-pinch array, by bombarding it with gamma rays. It can be burned as a clean fuel by exposing its salts to radio frequencies which accelerates its alpha decay. It would make the perfect military fuel for drones of all sorts. It can be made easily by putting normal bismuth into nuclear reactors, subject it to neutron bombardment, take it out, wait a few weeks so that the short lived elements have decayed away and chemically extract the Bi-210m. It could be loaded as a salt in a coaxial tube fed 2GHz and it would give off enough heat to power drones and equipment of all sorts.

you can read more about the controversy surrounding Hafnium at the Wikipedia page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafnium_controversy The book written by Sharon Weinberger in 2006, "Imaginary Weapons: A Journey Through the Pentagon's Scientific Underworld" discusses this question. The issue of realizing a gamma-ray laser can also be found on Wikipedia (and the references therein). While the subject of intense research during the Strategic Defense Initiative, practical realizations do not exist yet, and the basic physics of whether they could ever exist remain unknown. Note, however, the x-ray lasers developed during this time do exist (but these do not use nuclear isomeric states).

Very interesting, really. As far as a 'super' weapon goes, it's the wholesale slaughter that keeps nuclear war from happening. Ask the Hiroshima crew.

Ok, a million kilowatt hours is 1000 megawatt hours and the average annual energy consumption of a private home, as in a villa, is about 2 to 3 % of that. Or are you talking about kilowatt seconds?

Isomers? Come on. Do you mean isotopes? That's the dumbest gaff imaginable if you understand even junior high level chemistry. Also, "without the radiation" is a lie. You can't have that. Not only will you have gamma radiation which is ionizing (it's the light coming off of the bomb)... But you will also still have flying neutrons...hitting non radioactive atoms in the line of fire....and smashing into them and turning them into now radioactive elements. This is absurd and dumb and ignores, well, all of physics. Can't even get the terminology right let alone understanding any of the underlying principles. I'm still watching. NO they are not called energy levels and sublevels. They are called shells and subshells. Good grief. This is one of the stupidest videos I've seen yet. But it has pretty pictures, kind of like Terence Howard. This isn't infotainment. This is disinformation.

The radioactive nature of nuclear weapons is an essential part of the deterrent preventing world war 3. If the fallout after use is so horrible that no one can use the nuked land for generations, then maybe we should simply not use them against each other.
