My aunt Eileen had a very beautiful voice (plays the daughter). Quite a lady then, balancing many goals. Her mother taught her all she could on singing, and played the piano for her, and many brothers.

Nice to see such films available as there is little or no chance of the BBC or other stations airing them. Viewers might also enjoy I DREAM OF JEANIE (with the light brown hair) (1952) which also features some of the same cast under Allan Dwan's direction.... And of course those who find this sort of thing offensive / non-PC do not have to watch...

When I was young, I delivered newspapers in the morning. One fine day I came across a small pump organ in the trash. We were a very humble family with little means. It needed some repair since it was very old. It was small and I could carry it in my wagon. We had some tin whistles, so my brothers and I jammed in the basement. What fun music can be. The young need to exposed, even encouraged to play. Music is a gift. To play it is a joy.

i saw this film as a five or six year old in the UK around 1953 and it made a profound impression--the beautiful wife and mother dying in a train crash, every child's nightmare. Often wonder if it gave me my love of barber shop harmonies

I watched this a very long time ago but did not recall that I had until near the end. It is not quite as I recall but it is a good film but memory fills in conversations that did not happen but were assumptions that the concert switch was conspired.

I’m 76 I lived in the town this movie was made in. My mom was in the movie. I was in the first grade and some of the school kids were extras. My dad was the principal in the local high school, and the other teacher, they had 2, and 7 kids in the high school. My sister went to a one room school house in this town. So glad to find this movie. Thank you, Flint Tompkins

The colours, the music, the pianos, the face...the Angel and the badman, Goronoff, makes for "GorYnoff" . Nice hint at Pygmalion, too. PS, may i beg to disagree with the opening credits that Rubinstein was the world's greatest pianist? But he's definitely given us a great soundtrack. Thanks for the upload.
