Hi Eddy. Many thanks for your kind comment. I use a set of Benro Mach3 TMA48CXL legs which are now married to an Arca Swiss D4 Geared Head. I no longer own the Edelkrone equipment as my photography has taken a slightly different turn but it is quality kit.

the smaller dovetail is for the "mono ball fix" plates, AND arca-Swiss Monorails (the bar on the LF cameras, tech. name "optical bench"); the wide side is for standard fit or "classic" plates; CAN'T confuse these, the large classic plate is OFFSET i.e. 2/3 of the plate rest on the "loose jaw" of the clamp, the other 1/3 on the fixed jaw on the head (and very precise tolerances), so only their plates work!!- not like the sirui and Gitzo, etc. arca compatible plates! ( there is a silver thumb knob inside the QR plate base, this has LIMITED tension adjustment, can't fit this to EVERY plate manufacturer, choose one and set the knob and stick to this brand).

I would say more for your own sanity, I might be inclined to do them regular fortnightly, with a 45minute time slots, like Tony said it was a longtime, I would have watched it until the cows come home.

Hi Melvin - I have just come across your video (perfect timing) as I have been researching this particular head. I will be wanting to use this head for producing panoramic images, but I have an information gap that needs addressing. | am having great difficulty establishing if the head rotates above the tripod centre - to explain: I am not so much worried about the fore/aft movement as that can be dealt with by the nodal rail adjusting the NPP point on the lens - but it is imortant (at least according to my research) to have the head centered on the left/right axis in order to give the stiching program the best chance of success. Can this head accommodate this?

  • @brianhowe441

HI Mel, is there a spirit level bubble on the head to help you set up for panorama shots?
