Happened to me today on a 7900 GRE I was testing. I am assuming it happened due to a faulty GPU since it never happened to my 6950xt, so I doubt it's bad drivers install. If any of you still have a warranty or replacement window, I recommend doing it asap.

Same here, kind of fixed it with a DDU and a clean reinstall of windows. Most of the time it fixes the problem. I only get a green screen once every week to 2 weeks.

@@Shunwarrior98 i did the same plus i thought my psu is not strong enough but in the end it was definetely the gpu. i was able to send it back and get my money back. now i have a new 7800 xt (from xfx) and no crashes anymore.

@@ouail5387 yes undervolt and use only amd adrenline driver and test your power usage. Until you find thr point of crash. Do not overclock card is already overclockd. I was able to play starfield 6-8 hours before any green crash.

@@ouail5387 could just swap it out for. RTX card. Nvidia works out of the box. I had gtx and rtx. Never caused me issues. My radeon 6870 I think. Couldn't even play csgo. Rx 580 was also causing me issues.

I uninstalled adrenaline drivers and installed pro drivers instead and now it has only happened once in a week compared to 3 a day. . I have msi afterburner and turned down vram clock speed and it started to happen less.

Most of these issues are likely faulty hardware rather than duff drivers. This is a common symptom of the GPU core crashing and triggering a error trap on the PCIE bus which will obviously cause the system to reboot. The reason for the screen colour before this is from the display controller(s) within the GPU loosing connection with the display core/engine of the GPU. The default test output for HDMI is a green screen, this is what is shown during a crash. The default test output for DisplayPort is a black screen and will also be shown during a crash. The display controller(s) are obviously held in a reset state during this crash to default to their test output modes.

Unfortunately this is a hardware issue. The 5700XT had 2 design revisions, 1.0 and 2.0. All 1.0 cards (including mine) have this issue. There is not fixing this short of replacing the GPU chip itself. The colour of the screen is actually the default test output signal which refers to the video connection used. Green screen for HDMI, Black screen for DisplayPort. This occurs when the respective display controller looses connection to the GPU core. My card is basically unusable, it will black screen while even browsing the web or with KZread. I’ve lost hope with mine. I ordered a replacement GPU chip (model 215-0917244) and will give swapping the chips over a go (I have the necessary SMD rework station for this). I’ve got nothing to loose.

Kind of late but just got this issue today. I didn't even have to start up a game or anything. Right after posting to windows one of my monitor went to the green screen (had to turn off the PC by holding power button), while the main monitor was black screened. I replug the HDMI cable of my monitor again and the problem is gone. Ps: GPU is 6650 xt with updated driver I have dual screen my main screen was black and my secondary was green

Hardware fault. My 5700XT has the same issue. Its what AMD cards do when their display controller(s) loose connection to the display core/engine of the GPU itself. Some general info. HDMI crash = Green screen DisplayPort crash = Black screen

@@P2PC so it looks like most GPU AMD produce just have this problem then. I tested out my 1050 sc to see if the same issue happens or if it's a faulty PCIe slot. So far no issue, so I can confirm it has to be the GPU. Let's see what happens when I get the RMA back. 😂

@@Duhbigboi1 dang dude that sucks. I’d recommend DDUing the drivers off your PC before trying your RMAd GPU. The drivers can sometimes corrupt from faulty hardware crashes. I’m going to try something pretty sketchy to fix my lemon of a GPU. I’ve scoured TaoBao for a replacement GPU chip on my card (model 215-0917244) and it should be here next month. Provided that the chip I’ve ordered is Indeed a fixed revision of the chip I may well fix my card once and for all. Fortunately I’ve got the necessary equipment (SMD rework station) to perform a GPU chip swap on my card. The only other fault could be the VRAM however I doubt that. I’ve got nothing to loose, games run for only about half an hour on a good day.

I got this Issue on Christmas 3 Times. I had just got My RX 6600 that My Dad got Me for Christmas and I already had Issues with the Card. I had to Manully Restart My Computer because it didn't automatically Restart. I had to do this every of the 3 Times. Causes of this could have been caused by Hardware Malfunction, Unnecessary Peripherals, Corrupted Files, and Exessive Memory Usage.

@@imedog4mer641 There's no fixing it. Luckily I got mine for Christmas and was able to exchange it out. But it's a green screen of death, sort of like xbox's red ring of death. There's no fix, you're gonna have to contact manufacturers and see if they can replace it or refund

I know how to fix this issue so basically you need to have only one software that control ur gpu. Exemple: I had the amd adrenaline software and the msi Center software and because of this my gpu didn’t knew what to pick between the two. So if you have any software other then the amd adrenaline (or whatever software that was recommended for ur gpu) delete them. Personally this method worked on my pc and now I can play any games without getting a green screen 👍

@@verchielGold Nvidia doesn't have driver issues, sure they are pricyer but they have better performance, they are offering greater and more original features such as Nvidia broadcast, RTX and some in game features that only Nvidia GPUs have. They got even more attributes that would make this message 2x longer if I listed them all. But I think you get my point. Nvidia GPU >> AMD GPU in terms of performance and fewer issues. Only thing AMD get is the price.

Kind of late but just got this issue today. I didn't even have to start up a game or anything. Right after posting to windows one of my monitor went to the green screen (had to turn off the PC by holding power button), while the main monitor was black screened. I replug the HDMI cable of my monitor again and the problem is gone. Ps: GPU is 6650 xt with updated driver I have dual screen my main screen was black and my secondary was green

Hardware fault. My 5700XT has the same issue. Its what AMD cards do when their display controller(s) loose connection to the display core/engine of the GPU itself. Some general info. HDMI crash = Green screen DisplayPort crash = Black screen
@@P2PC so it looks like most GPU AMD produce just have this problem then. I tested out my 1050 sc to see if the same issue happens or if it's a faulty PCIe slot. So far no issue, so I can confirm it has to be the GPU. Let's see what happens when I get the RMA back. 😂
@@Duhbigboi1 dang dude that sucks. I’d recommend DDUing the drivers off your PC before trying your RMAd GPU. The drivers can sometimes corrupt from faulty hardware crashes. I’m going to try something pretty sketchy to fix my lemon of a GPU. I’ve scoured TaoBao for a replacement GPU chip on my card (model 215-0917244) and it should be here next month. Provided that the chip I’ve ordered is Indeed a fixed revision of the chip I may well fix my card once and for all. Fortunately I’ve got the necessary equipment (SMD rework station) to perform a GPU chip swap on my card. The only other fault could be the VRAM however I doubt that. I’ve got nothing to loose, games run for only about half an hour on a good day.

I got this Issue on Christmas 3 Times. I had just got My RX 6600 that My Dad got Me for Christmas and I already had Issues with the Card. I had to Manully Restart My Computer because it didn't automatically Restart. I had to do this every of the 3 Times. Causes of this could have been caused by Hardware Malfunction, Unnecessary Peripherals, Corrupted Files, and Exessive Memory Usage.
When you got the green screen, did it have any text? Wondering because Im thinking it might be a AMD card issue. I just built my PC 1 month ago and just got this problem today.
@Freshhmeatz m No, The Screen was Blank: Entirely Green, No Text or QR Code. When I got the Blue Screen, There was a Text and a QT Code.
It was funny how the RX 6600 worked fine for My Dad also. :-)

@@imedog4mer641 There's no fixing it. Luckily I got mine for Christmas and was able to exchange it out. But it's a green screen of death, sort of like xbox's red ring of death. There's no fix, you're gonna have to contact manufacturers and see if they can replace it or refund

I know how to fix this issue so basically you need to have only one software that control ur gpu. Exemple: I had the amd adrenaline software and the msi Center software and because of this my gpu didn’t knew what to pick between the two. So if you have any software other then the amd adrenaline (or whatever software that was recommended for ur gpu) delete them. Personally this method worked on my pc and now I can play any games without getting a green screen 👍
This somehow didn't work for me, I have the AMD adrenaline and I deleted my MSI center and everything else that controlled the card but I still get green screened
@@resper3287 If this didn't work for you then you should just sell ur GPU🤷♂️. Even I managed to fix my graphic card and I'm still going to sell it because of how trash AMD GPU's are. You should switch for a Nvidia
@@resper3287 this has been an issue for a long time and AMD still hasn't fixed this. I've waited too long and you should do the same thing cause they are probably never going to fix this issue. As long as they make money they won't fix this.

@@verchielGold Nvidia doesn't have driver issues, sure they are pricyer but they have better performance, they are offering greater and more original features such as Nvidia broadcast, RTX and some in game features that only Nvidia GPUs have. They got even more attributes that would make this message 2x longer if I listed them all. But I think you get my point. Nvidia GPU >> AMD GPU in terms of performance and fewer issues. Only thing AMD get is the price.

I have had so many unresolved green screens by now, that I would like to suggest a name-change, from "AMD" to "Green screen of death Microsoft fukwit emulator".
AMD is just another big corporation who does not give a flying fuck about us. This has been going on for all the years that I own their cards/ processors. No fix ever.
