She mentions killings of Jews by Arabs, but she fails to mention that there were also, and still are, killing of Arabs by Jews. The Afghan government collapsed in 2021 for reasons other than internal corruption, as the media often portray. External influences, especially the U.S. government's Doha peace talks with the Taliban without the Afghan government, shaped it. Before leaving, contractors uninstalled vital software needed to monitor supply/maintenance etc. An example of this is, the removal sophisticated GPS equipment from helicopters which help to fly day or night, forcing pilots to use paper maps and geographical knowledge in hostile territory, many planes, helicopters were shot down. In addition, the U.S. halted providing laser-guided missiles and weaponry to the limited but capable Afghan air force. Thus, advanced aircraft were grounded and medical treatment was sparse. The dismal condition exacerbated soldier deaths from treatable wounds, degrading military efficiency. For lack of food, ammunition, assistance, and intelligence, outer bases retreated in a domino effect. Afghan soldiers were severely outgunned by the Taliban, who enjoyed Pakistan's ISI's support for nearly 30 years. Some of the bases were sending SOS messages saying they had very little ammunition, almost not food or water. You tell me, should they keep fighting? How can they? These are humans, they were going against suicide bombers and radical terrorism. The Taliban rapidly filled the vacuum left by the U.S. withdrawal, causing Kabul to fall in August 2021. This story shows a pattern of U.S. strategy decisions that prioritised immediate political goals above a lasting and inclusive peace process, destabilising Afghanistan and bringing down its government. In 2019, the Afghan government killed 35k confirmed Taliban with US air force backing, according to Lt General Khosahl Sadat. He told the Oxford Union an example of the effectiveness of air support was at a small outpost in rural Afghanistan, a police officer with a smart phone would see Taliban, request air support surveillance, ensure the target had a weapon, and then fire a guided missile to kill them without collateral damage. In 2019, ANA had 100% control of Afghanistan and was conducting attack counter terrorism missions (not defensive) where they were attacked in response. The ANA was built and trained like the US army, which relies on contractors and behind-the-scenes logistics for employment, food, salary, medical, munitions/supplies, and support. The USA took them all and let them bleed out until collapse. It's shameful that 75K ANA and ANP died fighting the Taliban. Anyone who claims otherwise is tired and requires further research.
