I tried this today. Is there a specific requirement in order to be able to use spareful hand? Each time I caught the crab I was unable to use the ability. As well as sometimes I could only use Mooch II and if I caught a Goby while it was on cooldown I could not use normal Mooch. There must be some mechanic I do not understand here.

Good guide. Went early and got 3 crabs ready as bait. Somehow miskicked and watched them all disappear as my avatar put her rod away. Got another 2 before the 6 O'clock deadline and got Xty'iinbeck Sleepers on both of them. Got lucky and got one more crab before 8 O'clock and clicked Big Game thinking I could just Mooch II it and lost the option to use it as bait. Zero sharks. Wanted to boot bait-box into the abyss but sadly there is no command to do this as of patch 7.0 😡
tbh just easier to farm orange scrips from botany, mining, rather than limit yourself to a very limited time window with fishing

To clarify, is it 12-2am or 12-2pm?
The reason GP materia is going so cheaply is that our regen is too low to keep up from unspoiled node to unspoiled node inside the 2 game-hour windows. Realistically the most you'd want to spend if you're node hunting is 800-900, and you don't need a lot of GP materia to get to that point. It isn't a melding issue, it's just a game mechanic issue. I don't expect the value of GP materia to go up this xpac unless SE increases regen.
normaly i doesnt comment, but this time I do.. was fishing the whole day (between roulettes and some fates and so on) and was wonderings even prepared i never seen 1 shark... and i was thinking... am I so unlucky? so i rewatched your video... and i was shocked... i didnt pay 100% when ever you mention the time...heared 6 - 8 so it was clear for me... EU counts 24h (not all but most) and not that wibbly wobbly, timey wimey pm/am stuff XD soo now im getting sharks like a mad men, fishing between 18 and 20h, soo thank you for that advise and have fun in ffxiv
All the times I say are Ingame Server time! Chain shark is between 6pm to 8pm INGAME! :D
@@Bizzleberry yea i understood, but for me its 18 to 20 Ingame time (6pm - 8pm) :D and i was fishing all the time at 6 to 8 ingame time (6am - 8am) xD but not anymore

Went from 90-91 with the GC turn-in, 92 with weekly collectable, 92.7 after Wachumeqimeqi quest, and almost 95 with leves Something I noticed while grinding leves is that you get bonus exp when you trigger gatherer's boon. It doesn't matter how many more items you get from buffs, just that you trigger it.
You get a lot more xp for the gatherer's boon proc and the same for fishing with 'large' fish with patience.
So good news is it only took 6 hours to go from 90-100 Bad news is I used up all my rested XP haha. Worth it though
I've been to 3 windows of this guy and haven't gotten a single bite... My gear isn't fully melded yet... is there a minimum gathering/perception and maybe that's why I'm not getting bites? or is it just bad RNG?
My experience with fully melded gear with no food buff is around 20% chance to get one. I think turning up 3 times and not seeing a single one is unlucky. You are due a double Chain shark soon 🤗

Can you do a basic guide on fishing? I cannot seem to fish anything high level anywhere and on ocean fishing i cannot seem to get more than 7k points, I'm completely lost lol

Mining / Botany is just flying around timed nodes every 2 hours on this list - www.ffxiv-gathering.com But it will yield around 60% of the amount of doing the video.
Do unspoileds and legendaries in the same route. Get yourself a bunch of hi-cordials and you will have enough GP for the unspoileds and enough for 1 wise use on the legendaries. Combine this with better crowned pie and superior spiritbond pots and you will be rolling in gathering materia. No fisher needed
Make alarms for all the nodes for MNR/BTN, don't need a guide for it. 😛
seems like a lot of hassle, if I follow the botanis/miner timed node rotation I can get 500 scrips literally in half the time
It takes 2 hours of ingame prep - the same as any timed node. Bot/min nodes give around 160 without revisit. This can give 500 scrip per fish. It's worth the trip imo!
It's a bit of a gamble, honestly. Miner and Botanist are reliable but insanely slow. If you get lucky, the gains from fishing are massive, but sometimes you get no fish from it so you wasted your time. That's why I like to do both. I do the miner/botanist rotation until it's 4 hours to the fish, then I go to fish. Working out okay so far.

What were your stats? I've crafted the gear, but haven't done good penta melds yet. just wondering how much gathering/percep you need.
My Armor and accessories are Penta-melded to teamcraft recommendations. My Rod has 2 XII precision and 1 XI precision.

it doesn't really need it. They already tune the fishing reqs based on the 1 weapon and gear, you're getting 35 extra gp just from the gig. The only thing we'd really gain from this is another thing to spiritbond, but we'd trade that with another thing we'd need to craft and meld every tier. Don't think it's worth it honestly.
@@strife725 spiritbond is the main reason I want it - because assuming you do the “gain spiritbond thing” in equal proportions among all three gatherers, the other two gatherers get about 10% more materia (i’m sure I’m oversimplifying - maybe there is a fisher method of getting more spiritbond than the other two?). Second is my ocd about fisher max ilevel always being lower than max ilevel for the other two gatherers. It’s just something that bugs me and i’m sure I’m not the only one, even if it’s not a big big deal. A guy can have wants ;)

Good luck! It's a bit RNG but when it works 1000 scrip is crazy! Just make sure to use big-game fishing for that max collectablity!

Don't forget if you've unlocked rank 4 fates in all areas, trade in 100 gems for the new bicolour gemstone vouchers.
the turn ins for carpenter, blacksmith, armorer and goldsmith are also good options as you can MIN/BTN all the needed parts
the difference here is number of pre-crafts needed per collectable. most people are trying to minimize pre-crafts so they can hand in faster. you're right tho that those are far less expensive options if you have the time.
@@Maskfield carpenter also has the least amount of required overall materials. I would do the tacos but I dont like having to farm bicolor gemstones

Yes, I can confirm it is a 2hour slot. So you have a chance or two after your first 3 crabs in your pants!
It seems like a good farm, but idk what perception you need to catch this guy at highest collectability because I keep catching medium size.
You will need to make use out of Big-gaming fishing - Something i've more recently discovered!

heyo can you tell us how much your craftmanship and control stats?
As a heads up, you DO NOT NEED to have the second city unlocked to hand in collectables. The appraisers in old cities allow you to still do turn ins. You just dont have access to the new scrip vendor for new items.
This is true but I would recommend people just do GC hand-ins and focus their time on MSQ
@Bizzleberry mostly for those that grab random gathering collectables while spacing out the MSQ. I got really bored here and there and splashed in some gathering and fates myself. Not being able to turn them in at Tuly was kinda annoying. Finding out I can just do it all in Gridania while doing turn ins was awesome.
since these are scrip collectables you dont really need waste ur stacks for big game fishing if youre using patience 2, Horned Frog for the sand is where BigGame fishing is amazing and helpful
100% need to use big-game fishing on This and Chain Shark.

I don't have the best catch % chance numbers but 2/6 crabs and both sharks being at max collectability makes it worth the effort to do. Maybe you will get more!
Btw you can't Surface Slap and then get the fish you want because Spareful Hand says as such (Also just tried it and was wondering why it wouldn't let me)
You can't surface slap for the Peacock, but you can surface slap for the mooch bait.

What about upgrading your tools and gear? Do you just craft it as you go? I have EW Indigator stuff, will it be enough to level all the way to 100?
If you didnt start off with great lv90 gear it can be worth upgrading your gear as you go for bonus first time craft xp bonuses, but generally you can start crafting the lv100 white gear around lv96 ish
