This video is 15 years old but in 2024 the store packaged grated cheese has become the subject of criticism because of added Cellulose, Natamycin, and other non-food ingredients. Brought my old Zyliss cheese grater out and I'm not sure about the health claims, but to my palate a chunk of hard parm in the grater is noticeably tastier than powdered or pre-grated cheese!

I have used and loved this for years with great results. Sad it isn't made anymore. So easy to use and store.

It isn't easy to clean. Cheese gets clogged up at the back of the grater, and it is difficult to clean because the graters back isn't removable.

I have just got this. It takes a bit of getting used to, slicing doesn't feel as smooth as per this video though! I haven't julienned any fingers yet which is a bonus! This video is great for showing you how change components over, the boxed paper version (which is a little smaller than an old fashion ordnance survey map) was super vague! Anyhoo, thanks for posting this vid!

Grater works great. Easy to turn handle and sharp drum makes grating hard cheese easy. It’s not as easy to disassemble the grater as this video implies. You need to be able to hold the open drum end firmly (not easy to do with just one finger) and turn the handle counterclockwise. I used a rubber gripper (like you use to open jars) to grip the end and then I could easily turn the handle. Hope this helps.

I had one of these for 10 years. I pulled the cord as fast as I could (in small successions) to obtain a lot more than 1800 rpms and it was great. The first thing to go was some of the plastic teeth on the gear which were sprinkled in the salad (Maybe I was too rough on it) The pull cord finally broke. Since you can control the speed of the spin i really liked this spinner. The push pump (Cuisinart?) I bought at Costco a few years back with a shaft that ran from the top to the bottom taking up a significant amount of space didn't spin fast enough and the lock kept engaging while pumping.

I'm glad to see they can up with a guard. I once was slicing potatoes with my older model and slipped. Nearly sliced off a good chunk of the meaty part of my thumb. 12 stitches to repair the cut.

We bought one of these (from TJ Max) as a Christmas stocking stuffer but can't get it to work. No function what so ever. I went on the web to look at Amazon reviews from Amazon to see what problems other people were having and the reviews are scary. At least others would function out of the package and then stopped working. But as I say ours does not has not ever worked. We will get in line and try to return it, such a hassle.

This slicer is very awkward for me to use. The teeth don't hold that well. The slide on my unit is sticky. It isn't smooth or easy to operate. Just when you get slicing then the food runs out and you have to start over again. I cut three carrots and they stained the plastic orange. It's in the washer now. I was very hopeful when I picked it out at a kitchen store in Minneapolis. Now it just takes up a ton of room in my kitchen. I've also cut myself several times with it. :(. Tomas in Mpls.

I was in an Italian restaurant yesterday on Long Island and they used one of these to grate cheese onto my meal. The cheese came pouring out of this thing. When I comented on how well it worked, the waiter gave me a tip. He said if you cut the cheese up into smaller chunks first, it works very well. If not ..... Much more difficult to use. So, there you have it.
