What is the story behind the painted rock? The splash in the water near the trumpeter swan was probably a duck getting bellow water before the eagle could get it. The eagle never got close to the waters surface

  • @mandyaugustin

The rock is called "Ribbon Rock" (some call it Bacon Rock) and it was moved there as a memorial for Dorothy Molter by her nephews. It looks painted, but the stripes are actually striations in the rock. The colors are even more dynamic when the rock is wet.

We stayed at that site on Clove lake back in August 2020. Great swimming beach! Unfortunately ppl always leave lots of garbage in the BWCA I always come home with more of their garbage than my own. Leave No Trace folks!

Man that site was sweet! I'd love to be there in the summertime and just swim all day long.

love what you do. just the right mix of narration, sounds of the wilderness and music. I'd like to see some cooking, maybe some meal planning and gear, some fishing. and lastly, we gotta get you up off the ground. i never thought i could sleep in a hammock till i bought a good one. there are many.

Definitely! Putting these old vids together I'm realizing some other stuff that I want to remember that I don't have footage of. I hear that sky sleeping is the way to go. I really want to try it out. Maybe this summer...?
