    What if you did this for everything? Even 3x3, shaving off 0.15 secs at the highest level is HUGE now. I wonder how this is going to be handled going forward 🤔…

    It is against the regulations. The timer start is whenever your hands come off of the timer, if you're touching the cube or haven't got your fingers on the timer then it's a penalty.

    yes it is against regs but with how they currently analyze solves for illegal starts and stops it's impossible for this to be penalized

    @@Bitzerrr They just need to switch to smart cubes for official results because it seems like everyone is doing this. I've never heard abt it until Yiheng's average but now that it was brought up, I noticed that most likely everyone in the top 10 or so is doing it.

    @@thecalculatedcreativecoder1428 yiheng is really the only one doing this right now. the two most likely solutions would be to start doing frame by frame analysis on top results or to just allow slide starts to happen.

    not yet because it came already lubed but I lube my qiyi one just like clock (put only a tiny bit of lube and then wipe it off)

    From my experience regular lube has a great chance of making it much much worse, it would just cover all of your fingers, and the puzzle will get very sticky and messy, unless you put very small amount of it (but what's the point then) But furniture polish instead of it helped a lot with reducing the friction, and it just stays like that for a long time, Ben suggested using that at some point and it's actually so great, it feels like magic, it even helped me reviving one of my old puzzles to much more usable state

    I tried furniture polish on my qiyi 15 puzzle but it made it slower. Small amounts of a fast cube lube is what worked the best for me

    is there any reason why do you solve it with this method specifically, and not just do yau? seems to be some version of cage where you solve two opposite centers first, maybe it's more ergonomic on this simulator to do it that way?
