Staycation Lifestyle

Staycation Lifestyle

For years, I loved Van Life and VW Transporters, but with my day job, a car was always the most sensible option.

However, my passion gave in and I could resist no longer, life is too short and I have never looked back. I sold my car and with all the knowledge I have, made a purchase of a Transporter T6 Kombi. Extremely practical van, with the ability to use as a daily vehicle and as a camper van for Staycation.

I bring you videos of different VW Transporter T5, T6, T6.1, Van, VW California Ocean, Shuttle camper conversions.

Product reviews and discussing items you will use in your van and related items for general outdoor living.

Products I discuss will be in the video description and those from Amazon, will be easy located on my store page: www.amazon.co.uk/shop/staycationlifestyle

If you click on my Amazon affiliate links, I may receive a commission. I will only link products I use and believe in.

Any questions, please ask.

Well, these campsites have just withdrawn their right to complain about people wild camping, this is on them. My vehicle is a commercial vehicle although I guess that means it is excluded from "no motorhomes" signs. tbh the DVLA defines whether it is a motorhome or a commercial vehicle. tbf I don't really like campsites anyway, too many people, basically just an outdoors hotel. At least I feel better for not using campsites now, thank you campsites for taking some of the guilt off me and shouldering it yourself. Plus if I stay somewhere wile, it'll be tidier when I leave too and I save money too. The insurance thing, how do they manage EV's then as they are as much likely to catch fire as a homemade camper van

Do you know how the fire started? Someone causing a fire because they have overcooked their dinner would be irrelevant to how professional the conversion was 🤷🏻‍♂️ Depending on age, it might not be type approved. Had a DIYer added some extra USB’s, maybe another 240v socket to plug their tv in, added a solar panel possibly. Lots of variables, which further goes to show, how can a site determine a good from a bad. I’ve shown bad conversions in the past, but never name anyone, who is to say that a brand new van was made by a NCC approved converter, then the next day goes for a cheap solar panel to be fitted by someone else and they completely mess up the wiring and turn it into a dangerous hazard. The van is type approved, NCC approved, yet potentially a fire hazard because of the aftermarket work

Let’s be honest these camp site owners need to get over themselves and their woke risk assessments of theirs If I was a campsite owner I’d prefer DIY campers 🤣 least they’ll be competent enough to find and fix any issue Rather than someone who talks down on them like snobby pre built twats

  • @StaycationLifestyle

Problem is, many of these risk assessments have been written as a result of people being sued over ridiculous things. They are only trying to protect themselves. Some DIY campers are better than some of the so called “professional” conversions. The DIYers take pride in what they do, as opposed to some of the poorer converters (there are good and bad converters)

It’s a result of previous problems/claims that are causing the H&S to be stricter. Insurance premiums for leisure premises will rise as people continue to try and claim for tripping over things, being hit by bikes, slipping on grass etc etc. Shocking really. A lot of sites want families which they believe wont cause problems

Interesting, in Ireland a van is either commercial or not. A converted commercial van must be inspected and signed off by an engineer with the log book changed and the approriate taxes paid to the authorities on the conversion. If is has a conversion that's not recorded it is in avery grey area and possibly not insured, owning a commercial vehicle privately in Ireland is a challenge. There is no "halfway house" so to speak.

More fool these campsites if they’re being that selective. Are they going to stipulate no electric vehicles in case they burst into flames, are they going to say no diesel vehicles because they aren’t as quiet as petrol vehicles? How about stating no vehicles with gaudy colours in case it irritates someone. Plenty of other campsites so leave the pedantic ones to go bankrupt in the coming years. 👍

  • @StaycationLifestyle
    @StaycationLifestyle2 күн бұрын

Some do not allow charging of electric vehicles 😀 Some will have had bad experiences, suffered losses, had claims, complaints etc. They can be selective to an extent if they are still going to sell out. I think we are going to see more sites being “statics only” going forward. Plus others increasing prices. With the increase in “tourers” whether that be campervans, motorhomes or caravans, the sites can choose their own rules/regs and have the clientele they want.

Awnings are alright when the weather is dry. A nightmare to put in the van wet, then have to get it out in the back garden at home to dry. Because transporter and other similar height vans are a similar height to the awning, there is no ' fall ' towards the awning, from the van, then the awning tunnel makes a wonderful swimming pool - not good. I use an extendable curtain rail, from the floor vertically placed, with a rubber scraper taped to one end to make a wig wam shape with the tunnel, to stop it pooling on the tunnel roof, which stops rain collecting. Most of the time now though, I have completely solved the divorce in a bag problem. I have purchased a tow bar and a 7.5 metre fixed bed 4 berth caravan, when I need more space, result comfort, marital harmony and happiness. As far as the isabella, where is the sewn in ground sheet ? You could hardly use it as an extra accommodation sleeping place, could you ?

Hello to everyone and let’s just say that is very much still a divorce in a bag. After pegging out please drive away and then reconnect it. This is what people on campsites pay money to watch. Then please doing this in the rain or wind of both. When the tunnel is full of water on top does the door catch the roof? Forget packing it away you’ll be dead before you pack it. I have a t6 with a van go air they are brilliant when you don’t move away and when the weather is good. My advice is buy a pop up tent and just use that instead of all that hassle.
