The onus for proper pay is on the COMPANY, not the employee. Companies need to know how much a position is worth and pay it from DAY ONE. No exceptions. If you are in a situation where you are underpaid, you can't ask for more. They aren't going to pay you more. They want you to work for as little as possible. You simply walk out. If you're not getting the proper pay from day one, they are taking advantage of you and they know it.
I've always been on the fence about this. Especially if your time working there has been unfavorable. I don't understand the logic of being able to just fire someone on the spot but it looks bad if I just leave?? I understand from a business aspect that there is a company to run, but if you want to keep good employees, you should treat them as such. This mentality is outdated unless you are at the top of the ladder. Front line employees are, for the most part, replaceable.
You doing too much. All these steps are unnecessary . A waste of time.
What if your 40 - and a stay at home mother who is trying to get work after a large employment gap. My age does not match my experience. The jobs that I match in terms of experience want young, energetic employees. But I look too old.
I've been called for an interview just one week ago, Saturday, Today is Saturday! I'm still waiting for their reply! 😒I'm right or wrong???
I think it makes sense to follow up. However, I've never received an offer that I followed up on. 😩
Its been 11 days. I cant calm down. No sleep.
Loved this! Thank you, Jennifer!
A job I interviewed for told me that I'd expect to hear back sometimes this week. I had my final interview two weeks ago, and they contacted my references last week. However, the hiring manager did not respond to my emails. I'm not sure what to expect and I'm feeling more stressed.
Just wanted to let you know that I watched this video when it was first posted and used the tips to both apply to and get the stretch role I wanted. Now just over 2 years later and having just completed a masters, I’m doing it again. Came back to rewatch this before my 3rd interview for my dream next job that is def a stretch. I used your highlighter tip again and gained a lot of confidence seeing it was all highlighted in my first two colors. Thanks for sharing your tips and knowledge with us ❤
Do not do: Most, of any of these things. Lol wow. I've left at least maybe 10 companies. You have to build on momentum...you leave strategically. You are you business. Make sure any decision you make has little chance of backfiring. When you executurd your plan just do it...the boldness is FAR more important to you career than any bridges you might burn. STRATEGY and BOLDNESS. Never follow up and beleaguer the point with a resignation. Never give your employer you are firing any leverage

Hello madame i am a job seeker degreed i got last year since then been applying abroad with my attestation. a month ago and 2 weeks ,i had applied by email after 2 days hiring replied saying thank you Miss fetie ,we my team will get back towards you, then the scanned his buisness card/contacts fax watsapp beneath ,sort of liks a pitch because the address is private.after that posted more accepting applications ?can i tell him my degree has issued and graduating soon .I beleive its a good sign
Doesn't a "Thank You" note look desperate, ass-kissing and insincere?
I had an interviewer just give up during my interview and say the following:- " I have interviewed quite a few people. I could do more interviews but what is the point. I'm sick of interviewing people". "You start on Wednesday!".
Haven’t heard back anything however hr sent me a neutral response that they are in assessment phase of choosing a final candidate. They will reach out to me as soon they have an update, what does it mean like what they tryna communicate
Hello, Question: Is around 35-40 minutes still a good length? The recruiters really seemed to like my answers a lot, there were 3 people interviewing me. I'm applying for a nurse RN job at a hospital, this is specifically for a new grad RN training program opportunity. 🙏🙏🙏 After the interview the recruiter asked if i had any questions, and she gave me her buisiness card if i had any questions and said that i should expect a phone call by next week (if im chosen). They really liked my answers to their clinical based questions and nodded their heads and smiled, we laughed a few times too, i wanted to be down-to-earth yet corgial, i was very enthusiatic with them and smiled. I saw them take lots of notes when i replied with my answers, and when i answered certain ones right they said "good 👍". Please let me know your input. 🙏🙏 Also wanted to mentioned, they really liked my resume, and when i submitted my application they called me within 4 hours to schedule an interview. Does this mean anything? I have 8 years of healthcare experience and worked as a CNA and LVN, now applying for an RN role. Also they did say "if you were hired for this role, what would you expect to gain from this position?" And they asked what shifts I would be interested in Day or Night. I said, "im good with either or, im good with what you guys need me for , ive worked AM, PM, and graveyard". I kinda goofed on one question, but hopefully that doesnt make or break me out of all the questions they asked me. They did mention "if you are chosen for this position, what would you expect to gain if you are hired here?" Is that bad or good? 😅 They really liked my answer when i said i want to gain RN experience, become a great nurse leader, develop quick thinking skills, learn more ways to advocate for my patients. I would greatly appreciate your input on the above please. 🙏🙏🙏
So, a few months ago, I went on an interview and it took 2 1/2 hours. The CFO of the company spoke with me, introduced me to other people that I would be working with and overall was a great interview. Since I was asking for a little more than they were offering, she said that my position would have to be renamed in order to meet the salary range, and she said it would not be a problem at all. In addition, she asked when I could start? Now, her son was the owner of the company and she did not indicate that it would be up to him since she was fine with the salary that I was asking for. She asked that I provide three references which I immediately did. I contacted my references to give them the heads up that they would be hearing from my new employer. Suddenly, things took a turn when my references mentioned to me that they had not been reached out to, I contacted my new employer to let them know that I was still interested and they just flat out ghosted me. I have no idea why and I thought it was incredibly rude and unprofessional to put me through all that at the end of the day, I realize that it was a shady company if that’s the way that they handle their business.
I don’t celebrate that mess!🤲🏽🤲🏽
I had to wait 3weeks till I finally got a schedule to work just be patient 🙌 🙏
More than 1x yes they keep lying to me about real reasons going in circle when I ask , so I quit , they just stared
If they are so talented why are thier home countries such a mess?
Why so many steps? Verbally Or written either one should be good enough imo. All you have to do is give them the heads up 2 weeks out. No need to make a production out of it.
What is the benefit of doing all of this?
Hello! I recently had a job interview and at the end the person interviewing me said I did a great job and I'll be hearing from them. Two days after my interview he called and said I didn't get the job but they want me to apply for another position in their company. Is this still a good sign?
You literally got a 50/50 shot. I cannot say whether it's a good sign or a bad sign. Please note that companies may have policies stating that they must interview a certain amount of applicants before hiring the person they want to fill that position. They could be just using you to meet a quota and have no intentions on hiring you.
in today's culture, Identifying as something doesnt make you that. So if I was raised in a military family, married a vet, have a son in the military - so i 'identify' as a vet, then what?
Thank you for the information.. In the stand firm section you mentioned if the boss denies your pay increase that you should be transparent with them letting them know that you will be looking for other work. If that is done, could it be that they will treat you poorly knowing that you’re leaving? I have always heard not tell your boss that you are leaving until you put your final resignation in. Thank you for your time
Me to
Omg I've heard of folks with all of these traits or some of them..
What to do next once i know that i am underpaid from last 2 years
Elevator pitch: the value that you bring to a role through your job title. Why do people come to you? Why do people love you? Example: Hey nice to meet you, my name is Jenn. I'm an ops manager at Disney. In addition to managing day to day operational functions, I'm known as the go to person for process improvement and turning around under performing teams. Another example: I'm Jenn, I'm a career success coach. I help job seekers to navigate bias locked inside of the hiring process. That's the number one reason clients come my way.
How long does it usually take to hear back about a job offer after a interview. It’s been almost 4 weeks 😫
Jennifer, I truly believe you were heaven sent to open my eyes and understanding in becoming a better person, employee and manager. My sincere blessings to you and yours. ❤
Loved it. Thanks.
❤
I've been touching up my skills by viewing videos like yours. ❤ Thanks for your help.
Exit interviews Im certain to cover the employer just like HR is. Because if anything ever happens the employer can say " we gave the employee every opportunity "
That's a lot of steps at the end of the day when that employee wants to get rid of you. You don't get a 2 weeks notice. You're just out of there. I don't need your reference
For me personally I'm not exactly worried about discrimination (or at least it's not my main concern) when I choose not to self-identify. For me personally I simply don't really have a strong ethnic/cultural identity, so I'm worried about being pigeon-holed into a category, if that makes sense. However if choosing to self-identify will make it easier for me to get a job, I'm definitely considering it.
Tell the huring managers this
Really though. Im on a break and scared to get back in due to the gap. But i took it because i was on a verge of a mental break down
Giving a two-week notice to a toxic employer is like a victim telling their abuser "I'm leaving you in two-weeks." BE SMART, PEOPLE!
Thank you!
A follow up can indeed backfire since you act as if you are trying to manipulate him/her, it's only results from that interview that can get you a job
Continuing job search becomes difficult because at that moment there is no vacancies matching your profession.
She gives me HR or management vibes.
😂
Nice
