  I grew up in Lewisburg in the 1970’s and the Tuckwiillers were our neighbors. They are a fine family and Matt and Amy were in my graduation class. Their farms are great examples of the proper way to raise quality beef cattle. Just great people.

  Важно наблюдать за самой первой половой охоты телок, чтобы до случки их было не очень много. В некоторых случаях придётся делать случку очень рано. Когда циклов много и телка не в случке начинаются гормональные нарушения и такая телка трудно забеременеет. Но ангус это та порода которая в 90% будет стельной с первого раза.

  I was the last of the generation that got to experience all this..Started hauling hogs there at 15 years old in 1990 for dad and grandpa..Granpda and great uncle also sold cattle there as I grew up.. Bought sheep there a few times...Was at some of the very last cattle sales....Its all gone..Bygone days.

  I love Westcliff! It was where we went to ski! My family has had a cabin in the area since 1981. The ice cream shop is a must and the newer pizza restaurant is the best place to go. Lake Dewies is where we go on the 4th for the fireworks. It's basically our 2nd home. 😊🏞️⛷️🎣

  The SLICK GENE identified in Senepol. and other tropical Bo’s Indicus and mapped to chromosome with prolactin, was not found in Angus . back several years ago. Have the well shedding Anggus been genotype d?

  William- thanks for the comment. There are a handful of mutations in the prolactin receptor (PRLR) that cause the SLICK phenotype in criollo Bos taurus breeds (such as Senepol) from the Caribbean and Central America. We did not find any DNA marker associations near PRLR on chromosome 20 in the 11 different breeds we looked at. However, we did find associations near prolactin (PRL) on chromosome 23. There were 3,898 Angus animals genotyped for the USDA-Mizzou research. I am sure there are many more animals with hair shedding scores and genotypes in the AGI database.

  Great video, I spent a good bit of time on that farm when I was a young man. I thought a lot of Al and his farm. I can’t remember the years at the moment , but his dad was alive, and he had one of the original cows in a small pen outside his window so he could watch and keep check on her, she couldn’t stand anymore but could get around better than any of us lol Those were the years of the red Cj jeep and the Australian Shepard. I lived in the house next door on his place. We did a lot of AI back then
