    I have problem with the choker where high pull strength is inevitable. It cannot be left like that. It sill open. Just a matter of time. I have found 1 mm diameter rings ( Stainless steal.). That is a better alternative but even thought it will be 1 mm I am not sure for the long time use. I cannot solder that union spot but I have found that there is an epoxy that hardens. I have with 2 ingredients and you mix it like 404. I want to put a tiny amount ot drop with the tips of the needle then leave it to dry. It will be harden then I may use a sandpaper. Touch there with the sandpaper kindly to make it smooth thats all. I do not know if it is a good idea or not. What do you think?

    What is the hardness of the wire you use for the head pins? Thanks

  • @Craftminute
    @Craftminute4 жыл бұрын

    I typically use 20 gauge. A soft hard wire works great.

    How do you decide what diameter wire to use for different bead/marble sizes?

  • @Craftminute
    @Craftminute4 жыл бұрын

    Majority of all glass beads and semi precious stones on the market will fit 20g wire. I primarily work with beads that range from 4mm to 10mm if that helps. If you run into a bead hole being too small, you can use a bead reamer to widen the hole. Do not use a reamer on crystal beads for they are susceptible to cracking.

    Very pretty. My question is what is the purpose of looping your wires in opposite directions?

  • @Craftminute
    @Craftminute5 жыл бұрын

    I do not have a specific reason why. This is just a personal preference I do for a more balanced looking design.

    Are you using a stainless steel wire? Try the german style wire or one that is sterling silver. This will be softer to work with.

    You didn't show how to center the eye.

  • @Craftminute
    @Craftminute7 жыл бұрын

    Diana, the steps I outlined will provide you with the results of a centered eye. With the initial 90 degree bend of the wire, you will prevent yourself from ending up with a P shape. The important part is making sure you make one complete turn at the end for the closure. If for some reason the pressure you apply offsets the eye, just insert your pliers back into the circle until it fits snug and apply pressure backwards until the wire is made centered. I have experienced a lot of people trying to do this with just the tip of the pliers. This will mess up your shape. You need to insert it the pliers fully to the size of your circle.
