    Speaking of waiting for a discount, fast forward 1.5 years after this video, and they're selling at Joe's NBO for only $50/ea as part of a two-for-$100 promo. At less than a third of the original price, these seem like a great pickup.

    Great Video ! The Garmin Foretrex has moved onto the 801/901 Model for August 2024 ! Useful info NO more Duracell batteries (they changed the chemical formula), I use the Lithium batteries that have a great temperature range (and do not leak ! ! !) ! Also you can use AAA rechargeable batteries. A great use for the Garmin Foretrex is to find your car in the huge parking lots ! Also useful to check your speedometer in your car... Also when you change to another type of tire and you do not want to talk to the POLICE ! The police are not your friends anymore... The police pull you over for speeding with the new larger tires and arrest you for a DUI so they can have a Level of performance (not a quota) because of MADD (just political to get promoted) ! The Garmin can save you time and money (and save from women who say your always lost) ! tjl

    That kind of lacing system is also used for the traditional Scottish Ghillie Brogues, for which the laces are meant to be tied around the ankle above the shoe itself. I've read that this was to allow access to the laces when one was having to walk through water.

    Oh no, sorry to hear, I am assuming it was a recent purchase? I was surprised to see how much these went down in price from when I bought mine. Perhaps there is a serious reason behind that price drop. Too bad.

    Hi, we in germany don‘t really have hard winters nowadays. I was kinda thinking about getting this shoe for fall/winter. Do you think this might be a good idea or not so much? Thank you.

  • @UltimateSurvivalGear
    @UltimateSurvivalGear8 күн бұрын

    Yea, for in-out day hikes, the waterproof version should definitely be sufficient. I'd get a half (maybe even full) size up to accommodate for warmer socks and you should be good for light winter use.

  • @UltimateSurvivalGear
    @UltimateSurvivalGear12 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the request, yea I can do that! It is pretty straightforward, you can use a mapping tool like CalTopo to create your routes and waypoints, extract the .GPX file and then upload it into the folder on the Garmin, but I will try to make a video on how to do it soon.

    Very good boots, bought them based on this review also. Rocks, mud, roots, grass, "wetlands", rock rivers, all in a steep angle 50 - 60% without sticks, i did not slip once. If you need to run in a steep angles, you can. If you have siblings doing extreme sports and destroying you in a mountain hikes. Got zero injuries from them on my feet, but i think the inner filling you will need to replace at some point. (inner insole).

    My first pair were awesome but does due to the dreaded hydrolysis. My second pair have let me down badly. First sign of water and im soaked. So much for a GTX lined boot. Upon inspection the fabric at the crease pount had worn through to expose holes. Won't get them again, which is a shame as they are so comfortable.

    Are they excellent...... ? yes no . The best boot in the world is shit if it does not fit/work for you ! I like this model as it comes in so many size /width options . Its very light and offers no more protection than needed . the main issue for many will be the boot not working well due to the wearer NOT wearing the right socks . too thick..too thin etc . socks that dont work WITH the boot . So when you want a warm weather boot like this for any form of tactical uses. Spend the money on the BEST socks you can buy , the rewards will be worth every £/$

    What exactly is terrex and what’s the difference between terrex, non terrex and gortex

  • @UltimateSurvivalGear
    @UltimateSurvivalGear15 күн бұрын

    So GoreTex is the waterproofing technology and there are a lot of brands that implement it in shoes, boots, other clothing items. Terrex is Adidas's own line, designed more for outdoors enthusiasts.

    A lot of people cant necessarily justify the..."buy once, crye once." An alternative for folks that would like a summer weight combat shirt. VertX Recon X combat shirt. It has a 57/43 nyco mix. The same as the army IHWCU top. The sleeves are thinner, much more breathable.

  • @UltimateSurvivalGear
    @UltimateSurvivalGear16 күн бұрын

    Yea for sure, plus once you crye once, you'd most likely would want to crye again. I recommend the pre-owned market when it comes to Crye gear. Will definitely have to check out Vertx shirt. I have couple backpacks from them and they are solid.

    Very poor materials or poorly designed shoes. After 3 months and walking 270 km on flat terrain, the material cracked at the flex points and inside above the heel. The complaint was rejected. The company Adidas, without knowing my shoe size or how I laced the shoes, claimed that I laced the shoes incorrectly and that it was the wrong shoe size.

  • @primalconcretesledge3137

    These boots are HORRIBLE. The toe box is super duper shallow (as you can clearly see from any angle on the shoe) so it really puts the pinch on your toes when squatting down. I was disappointed because the rest of the boot is very solid and comfortable.

  • @TheCovenant2
    @TheCovenant224 күн бұрын

    You really do not enjoy the fingers at all, do ya? :D I think theyre nice. You gotta get used to it first but I think the material is pretty soft and feels nice as soon as it doesnt feel weird anymore. Also the effect it is supposed to have is to spread your toes back to a more natural way, since we kind of "ruin" our feet by wearing nowadays standard shoes, even when they have a slightly bigger toebox. Beside that obviously it also is a brand thing. Vibram is basically THE brand for barefoot shoes with those toes ^^
