"Jenny Q Chai demonstrated true affinity for contemporary music..." -- Anthony Tommasini, THE NEW YORK TIMES

"She played as if she had a secret and couldn't wait to share it."
-- LUCID CULTURE

"Jenny Q Chai, who has studied with Mr. Aimard, is following the more eclectic path..." -- Vivien Schwietzer, THE NEW YORK TIMES

An adventurous and prodigiously talented young pianist, Jenny Q Chai seeks to create "fairy tales for grown-ups" in her themed and multimedia concert performances. Ms. Chai's unique programs include standard classical repertoire such as Schumann and Debussy to 20th and 21st century piano works, often by living composers, such as Marco Stroppa and Nils Vigeland, with whom she has close
affiliations.

Jenny, this is a marvelous display of your extraordinary skills and photogenic self. I very much like the choices of content visually and sonically. I came to this website in my audition of Ari as a possible website designer and have reviewed all the performance artists web sites he has done. Only yours have I visited a second time. I realize now that no website can be outstanding or even great without a keen artist mind centrally driving the creation of both the visuals and the sound. The center piece commanding the site was so mesmerizing it was almost impossible to tear myself away from the driving rhythms, arpeggiated sonic pitch and textured materials combined with the amazing filmic work and what must have been an epic camera, lights and performer setup and seemingly endless editing process. Amazing. Who did the film or filmic quality video? Consciously, the artists shown living the art intensely was everything one could want short of a live tiny audience of the absurdly wealthy sitting just a few feet away or even better, an audience of one with the power to continuously walk and peer and hear into the deeply personal proceedings of the ensemble's exquisite play and performance interplay. In that film, all that was missing for me was seeing a steady cam treatment of you playing a great emotionally saturated piece of music. I have some questions. Who is this website for? What is your ambition? Have you ever considered reframing into a "Just Cause" larger than yourself as the driver? (reference Simon Sinek's THE INFINITE GAME) John Geist

I like this with it's schizophrenic independence of hands. Playing in clusters,in leaps and bounds, reminds me of my youth . "Then we lived in leaps and bounds so fast , That in a week a month or two had past, Did we play to win the "Wind" still asked , But there's that warm old feeling at last, And I'm free all the time so there's no need to go though tomorrow I know she won't be mine ,But I'm wondering now, If I'll ever get back somehow but there's something short changing my mind , Cause tomorrow's such a long ,long time , Tomorrows is a long ,long time ." (Bruno 1966)

I've listened to many different interpretations of this piece. It's my favorite Schumann as well. Your tempo and dynamics hit the nail on the head! Amazing interpretation. The song has to be played slowly and with the right accents, crescendos, decrescendo to do it justice. Love your intro too most of all. It's a lullaby but with alot of sadness and deep thought incorporated. Shoulda been named, Very sick child falling asleep will he ever awake again?? Lol.
