Whoever said it was a bad exercise? Ha, look who's talking. Some internet tough guy who's probably out of school. Stabilisers? get your spelling right please. You're the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. Fyi, I'm a physical therapist. And you are? Internet know it alls? Just stupid. Bosu balls aren't really safe so it's not a good exercise. Please, you don't get caught on more weight=better shit. Because you clearly know nothing. Stability? Yes stability. Dumb fuck :)

Why? Because in sports, an athlete is rarely stuck in a double leg position. Not because of how you run. And yes, it does have to kind of mimic a movement to be "functional". SAID principle- ever heard of it? What's the trend of more weight=superior exercise? I would take single leg work over shit squats any day. Do you not know stability? Please research. It's obvious your some kind of powerlifter and never do any sport. The mindset "more weight" = better. Totally rubbish

why is it more functional? because we run in a position closer to the split squat than a real one? an exercise doesn't have to mimic a movement/sports movement to be 'functional'. i would take squats over this shit any day. requires more stability? What's with this stability trend going on? Increase the stability work of your body, lower the work of the prime movers. Not functional

Tiny range of motion? What are you talking about? Lack of skeleton loading.. this exercise is for people who have problems with the axial skeleton. This exercise is way more functional than squats because of it's unilateral nature. You're rarely stuck in a double leg position. Requires more stability than squats. P.S. More weight is not necessarily better results.

Well, his leg is a bit low here, but go to Boyles KZread channel and how he does it, his channel is "mbscvideo". He's surely one of the best strength coaches out there.

look at that tiny range of motion... lack of skeleton loading... upright torso AND not much knee flexion/extension. i don't know what the heck is the prime move in this but it looks like the work of every major muscle group involved in the squat is lessened

I do deadlifts, squats, and bulgarian. You don't know what you're talking about. Listen to Mike Boyle and think about what you said. He calls it "Rear-Foot-Elevated Split Squat" by the way.

Knowing Spector's wrestling ability, I'd have adopted the exact OPPOSITE strategy this guy did. I'd have stayed the hell away from him and try to work boxing and defend the takedowns. Though if it were me, I'd gas after about 2 minutes and he'd still be going at full pace cuz he's a beast.

I trained with him a few times helping him to prepare for his second fight. When we grappled, I started in side control but he was always able to scramble and take me down after about a minute. When I boxed him, I was actually a bit better than him at that point, I danced around him and kept him on the defensive mostly. Then when we did take downs, I got rag doll-ed. Was demoralizing but awesome at the same time.
