Man…I wish I had a teacher as good as Brett back in the day of the MVC games. I used to love playing them but boy did I suck at it. I didn’t know how to get better so I just never really played fighting games past the story or arcade modes. This is super cool to see.

Wow. They really do always seem to resort to using guides/cheating when Jirard struggles a little, instead of experimenting and gitting gud. You're the ones who decided to do a series on something that's obviously going to be a challenge.

There was a lady spectator at Wimbledon a year or two ago who went viral for dunking her chicken tenders into her coke. That's all I could think about most of this episode lol, I think she even got interviewed about it

The best part from shows like this (super couch fighters and the dojo vids) is that Brett is an excellent teacher and also the most non toxic fighting game guy i've ever seen. He's patient, he compliments you whenever you do something succesfull, and is legitimately happy and having fun teaching others.

While the fear of white erasure is just, hilariously dumb from certain points of view, as a Canadian, the recent proof of culture erasure of native culture is far more heinous.

"Uncle Roger" is a racist caricature of a Chinese person by Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng, who has precisely one joke that he's milked into the fucking ground. People give him a pass because they think "oh it's an Asian making fun of other Asians, that's okay" or even worse, they don't realise he's not actually Chinese himself and think he's a genuine person.

understanding just the basics of this stuff allowed me to win a MK9 house tournament once. knowing who has advantage and when, and then being able to exploit yours and mitigate theirs, that's all you need to build a really solid brick house of combos. wakeup, combo, get punished but mitigate it, wakeup, combo, combo, combo, the opponent is now furiously jumping repeatedly and kicking the air and wasting seven thousand frames on recovery, you knock them down then throw a combo while they are reared back in their chair screaming at the sky, you win.
