Chiefpep

I like to build motorcycles. In this channel I post my building process. The first bike I've built uses a basis of a Yamaha XV 750 Virago. It finally became a Scrambler which I call the 'Chiefpep Scrambler'. Currently I am building another bike which is more of a caféracer. I am from Holland that's why some of my video's are in Dutch. Since I notice I have a lot of international bike building friends I do all my current video's in English. I posted my video's on a weekly basis which takes some time but therefore my video's are kind of step by step video's now.

If you want to ask me further questions, or if these video's are just valuable enough for you to thank me in a different way than the usual 'thumbs up', consider to become a Patron of me. You find the link here: www.patreon.com/chiefpep All my Patrons get a very quick and detailed answer to all their questions.

Thanks!

    I like the looks of the R 1200 RT models. Performance, weight , features, etc. are all better on paper ) than my 1994 ( 82 k miles ) and 1996 ( 54k miles ) Honda ST, but my old Honda is dead reliable. Carbs work perfect, attain 45 mpg , no ABS to worry about, very little electronics, just normal maintenance. I will take reliability over looks any day, although i like the looks of Honda ST, but its not as good as the BMW. If i were a rich guy, then yes i would buy a low mile RT and of course not care about owner costs, but i do my own maintenance and almost any BMW is a pain to work on , compared to a Jap bike.

    I owned a silver 2007 ST years ago. Considering all aspects of the motorcycles I’ve had, it’s the best one I’ve owned, period. Honda’s ability to design a heavy bike that feels so balanced and manageable is impressive. Effortless power to launch from a light or eat miles on the highway (mine loved to run at 85 MPH LOL). Height adjustable seat and windscreen to dial in your leg room and wind coverage. The frame does get hot on the right side in warm weather. I sold the ST to buy my dream Harley which is awesome (Dyna Wide Glide with an Evo engine), but I still think about that ST and miss it.

    Interesting video. It's obvious you are not aware of the market in the US. You will not ride a finer touring machine than my Victory Vision. But I am getting old, and my back is pretty much done, so my 900-pound baby has been retired. I now ride a 2017 Triumph Trophy SE, and let me tell you, I will have this bike until I can no longer ride. This bike has speed, agility, velvety smoothness, amazing range, unmatched comfort and a feature set that creates an incredible riding experience. I am not sure why so many riders took the bait of the ADV bike. I totally agree with you that 99% of ADV bikes never see the dirt. And that is fine. People should ride what they want to ride. For me personally I think ADV bikes are hideous and would never own one. Sport touring bikes, or touring bikes as you call them, have always been the bikes I have been drawn too. I think this segment has morphed into something else, and the manufacturers are bringing the Tracers, GSX-GTs, Ninja-SX and so on to the market to represent it. That's fine I suppose, but I still prefer my Trophy.

    One question to both of you. After many years of wearing Shoei (GT Air and Neotec II) I went for a change to Schuberth C5, which I regret. (I'm selling it) The question: Are the newly built Neotec II, ECE 20.06 and/or Snell M2020R ? If is sold in USA then is DOT (poor test). Can you extend the info? Thank you. PS: To me Neotec III is not as practical as the Neo II

  • @chiefpepdesign
    @chiefpepdesignАй бұрын

    The Shoei Neotec II is certified under ECE 22.05, which is the European safety standard. - In the United States, it meets DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. The DOT standard is often considered less rigorous than ECE 22.05. - The Neotec III, which is an update from Neotec II, is likely to follow similar certification patterns. It's designed to meet ECE 22.06, which is the updated European standard. However, the availability and certification specifics in different regions, including the USA, may vary and could include DOT certification for the US market. The ECE 22.06 standard is indeed an upgrade and offers more stringent testing compared to ECE 22.05 and DOT standards. However, for the exact certifications of newly built models, you should verify with Shoei. Hope this helps.

    GT bikes are viewed as 'Old Man' bikes and Adventure bikes are seen as more 'aggressive' looking or whatever.. But personally I think adventure bikes are almost universally ugly, and would never buy one. They are also much more of a compromise than a 'built for purpose' touring bike. Like the urban SUV cars, they appeal to people who want to look far more adventurous than they ever end up being! As a VFR800 rider, my eyes are on the Triumph ST1050 for my next bike..🤘

    Tja het tour segment lijkt te zijn doodgebloed. Helaas. Na een hoop crossovers te hebben gereden en nooit een korrel zand offroad gereden te hebben, rijd ik inmiddels alweer 2 jaar op een BMW r1100rt uit 2000. Dat ding is bijna bullitproof en ontzettend betrouwbaar en gemakkelijk te onderhouden. En natuurlijk zijn er wel eens dingetjes maar dat had ik ook met mijn Kawasaki gtr1400 en diverse Vstrom motoren. Zolang het kosten technisch binnen de perken blijft is het prima te doen. Ik rijd plm 25k per jaar op de motor en moet zeggen dat mijn oudje dit goed volhoud. Ook ik vind het jammer dat er niet echt meer een keuze is in dit segment. Jouw Honda is een dijk van een motor en zal je nog ver brengen. BMW zal altijd wel een tour motor houden omdat vele overheidsdiensten in de wereld deze motoren gebruiken. De KMAR is ook op BMW overgestapt omdat Yamaha de fjr niet wilde doorontwikkelen naar Euro 5 en 5+. Er is nog genoeg keuze op de 2e handsmarkt, nu nog. Ik zit wel te kijken naar een andere motor en die van jou maakt een kans, maar zit ook naar een hogere te kijken, dit ivm mijn knieën (relaxter zitten Yamaha SuperTen).

    Thank you. My relation with BMW is very much like yours. I'm really a Honda guy. But... in November last year I traded in my old ST1100 for a R1150RT. I had to find out what the better touring bike was for me. To me, and I hate to write this, it is the RT. Weather protection is second to none, stability is great (much better than the ST1100). Of course the boxer is no match for the V4 of the ST and the gearbox is very precise yet clunky. Early this year I bought a CBR 600 FSport. Great fun bike, far too fast for me. An opportunity came up to trade in the CBR for a 1150GS. I had promised myself to never ever purchase a GS, they are so f... ugly. However, I did buy this 2003 GS and now the RT is up for sale. I prefer the GS and I now understand why these bikes are so popular. OK, there is almost no weather protection but, to me, that is the only drawback when comparing the GS with the RT. To me it feels like BMW put more effort in designing the GS than they did with the RT. The GS is a near perfect commuter and is also fine on longer road trips. And for real fun there still is a 4th gen VFR in the shed. I love these VFRs more than any other bike.

    I totally agree about the prices and the various problems you will encounter. The costs are enormous. For example the fuel pomp of my 1200RT was quite allright after 48000 km, but a plastic hose of the pump broke off. I had to buy a new one a 450 euro. The abs 3 system of my R1150RT failed in France. The remaining breakpower was about 10 % and I drove it 400 km home at night to avoid braking. Repair would cost 1200 euro, a new system 2750 euro. Quite ridiculous. I removed the abs and sold the thing instantly. Still I had almost every type of BMW. When its riding, a BMW is the best bike in the world. The wind protection of every RT is quite perfect and I love the boxer concept. As told in the video, a Japanese od even English bike wil be by far more reliable and less expensive to purchase and repair. BMW really makes you love and hate the bike. The most reliable is the name, not the bike itself.

  • @chiefpepdesign
    @chiefpepdesignАй бұрын

    Claro, te daré una descripción de dónde y cómo se encuentra la bobina de encendido en una motoneta Aprilia Scarabeo 500cc del 2007. ### Ubicación de la Bobina de Encendido En la Aprilia Scarabeo 500cc del 2007, la bobina de encendido suele estar ubicada cerca del motor, ya que su función es transformar la corriente de baja tensión de la batería en una corriente de alta tensión que puede generar la chispa en la bujía para encender el motor. 1. **Debajo del Asiento o Panel Lateral**: En muchos scooters, incluyendo la Scarabeo, la bobina de encendido está montada en el chasis, debajo del asiento o detrás de uno de los paneles laterales de la carrocería. Esto la protege de los elementos y permite un fácil acceso para el mantenimiento. 2. **Cerca del Motor**: La bobina de encendido estará conectada a la bujía mediante un cable de alta tensión. Sigue el cable de la bujía hacia atrás para localizar la bobina. ### Cómo Identificar la Bobina de Encendido 1. **Forma y Tamaño**: La bobina de encendido es generalmente una pieza cilíndrica o rectangular compacta, a menudo con una carcasa de plástico o metal. 2. **Conexiones**: Tendrá dos conjuntos de conexiones: uno para el cable de alta tensión que va a la bujía, y otro para el cableado de baja tensión de la batería y el encendido.
