I started flying quads/drones 9 months ago and am very passionate about it, working hard daily to learn how to put out better videos that i can share my passion. Mountain surfing is my favorite, but dabble in quad racing, freestyle, and fpv planes. I frequent utah and southwestern colorado.

@@Sonic_Ox thank you! I didn’t realize how lucky I was living here with all of the diversified terrain and cool places to shoot everywhere. This is such a rewarding hobby, it helps me to get out of my head and just focusing on having fun in the moment.
That's exactly how I feel too. It's therapeutic for me. It requires concentration. I can't think about other things and fly properly at the same time. It becomes zen-like 😆. The feelings of freedom and joy that FPV brings are difficult to describe. Thanks for sharing your journey. 🙏 🫡 🍻

@@BigKahunaFPV I would be interested in how it compares to the chimera, but I have a 7 inch that I built, it should be comparable, I like the helion better. Smoother, more power, but not as nimble. Two different applications. Thanks for commenting!

Damn that range is incredible! Can I ask where you were controlling from?
Luckily it was pretty open, if you drive up the road by the ski resort, there’s a dirt road by a ski lift, I don’t look, but it was probably 2-3 miles. I dropped to 30 on the dji 03 unit, but the dual diversity elrs was perfect the whole time. I am putting on the new Gemini transmitter next week, I have hear amazing things about it. 2 separate 1 watt feeds, with the dual diversity elrs, I have heard you can do 50 miles with a fixed wing, which is nuts to me.

I think that was 5 miles round trip. I think the farthest I have done with this drone is 7 miles round trip.

Cool video what make of drone video is that. Are you using traditional joystick control or multimedia headset controller. Your flying skills are top notch as reflected in your traverses of the towers. WELL DONE Josh!
I use a radiometer boxer controller that has the joysticks, the same as what you would see an rc plane use. I do have goggles on as well, made by dji. I can’t put into words how much of a rush it is doing those dives with the goggles on. Thanks for the comment!

Are you using the stock elrs receiver in the helion and is it a single antenna or a diversity antenna? And what packet rate do you have the boxer set to? Awesome flights

@@mountainmayhemFPV well I just recently got back into it. In 2015 I built a custom tbs discovery with a gimbal on front. Then had a mavic pro. That got boring. Haven't had a drone since 2018. But just got some goggles Integra and the boxer. And ordered a geprc tern lr40. A little 4" lr. It's pretty awesome and does well with the 3000 liion for about 20-25 min. I put the radiomaster diversity antennas on it. Then I just picked up a used rotor riot 5" from a guy in Layton. And been messing with that as well. May get a larger one some day. Pretty awesome to get back into it. That helion looks dang awesome and I bet flys great! I live just north of you up in cache valley.
Fpv is the way to go, especially mid to long range mountain surfing. We are so lucky to live here. I bet here are amazing places up near Logan for you to fly. Bear lake too, I have some amazing sunsets recorded from there.

The 4000 mah 6s I own has an xt90 that was super loose in the connector. I need to thicken the connector up somehow, Maybe with heat shrink tubing
