Everyone is not welcome here. Go back to California. I can tell you're biased because you view the people here through the lens of race. Your barometer of how good a place is should not be the number of interracial couples. Go back to California.

Funny how people have different perspectives on places. I was born in San Antonio, lived and worked here most of my 64 years of life. I grew up going to Boerne, Fredericksburg and New Braunfels. I spent 20 year in law enforcement in some of those very places. I got to see first hand that if you scratch the surface a bit, a lot of old held not so open and inviting ideas still remained. The three places I mentioned and the local in which you live are very right-wing republican dominated areas like most of the hill country. A large portion of my wife's republican hill country family, which is of German decent was aghast that she would consider no less marry a Hispanic man. While things have certainly improved in these areas for the acceptance of people of different cultures, race, ethnicities and gender status, it has been at a very slow pace. Bill if you are of the right-wing mind set and the same same shade, your fitting in and feeling at home in Boerne is very understandable. Just for fun, bring up middle of the road or left leaning politics. Mention your dismay at the easy access to firearms "anyone" in this state has, simply due to birthright or throw out the line that you think Obama was a great president or Trump's insulting remarks about an American war veterans and POW. See what happens. My wife and I travel up IH-10 when traffic allows and enjoy a meal at Popo's from time to time but I can tell you that was not always the case in many parts of the great Texas Hill County. The days of Anglo only Texas restaurants is over thanks to some liberal laws but still today, for some Texan's, it pays to double check your food for additional items not requested from the menu. It's Texas history and in some places that history dies hard.

We Native Texans have always called it "The" Hill Country, not Hill Country.

It's funny how you complain about the politics of the state that gave you a sky high property value and let you buy for cheap elsewhere. Texas charges you an arm and a leg for property taxes. The crime rate in SA is actually very high, not low as you seem to claim. And they have a problem with unleashed dogs roaming the city.

You sound like you are from California or NY. There is a lot less going on in TX. Not even in Dallas do you have a great supply of Uber and Lyfts. It's not California. So if you want to go to Boerne, then good luck with Uber and Lyft. There is simply not the same demand there as in California.

Great video! My husband and I are thinking of moving to Texas from WA state. Many reasons politics for sure and the weather! We are making a trip to the Wichita Falls area this summer. I have my eye also on the hill country area as well. Any tips for making the move are welcome. Hoping to retire in about a year, so we have time.

Texas has extremely high property taxes. Most people realize that unless they have a high income, they don't come out on top financially. And WA state is a much more beautiful state that flat, boring Texas.
