Thanks for the help! Worked just like you said.
My 2 year old at most Samsung smartthings had the banging noise it seems to be lose bolts that hold the balance weights on. 1 bolt fell out and 2 others were very loose. I tightened them back up and it seems fixed 🤞🏻
So what’s the point of having a fuse to protect the board if the official remedy is to replace the board if the fuse blows?
To prevent the magic smoke from escaping the board and freaking out the customer.
Very helpful video. The sheet is not present under my refrigerator . Where can I get another one ?
whatsa abwayyyla? 😂
Had to buy me an extra meter because of this. I don't bring in my fluke meter because I don't have a case for it so I bought a Klein with an amp clamp.
I just bought a Klein CL800. Has all the same functions of my Fluke meter-amp clamp set in one meter. Seems like a decent meter at a third of the price of my Fluke set. I’m going to do some comparison measurements. Also, will see how it stands up with time.
@@AppliantologyOrg Mine was only $115 on Amazon and it says it's drop resistant. Probably going to get some Fluke or Ponoma leads for it if it makes it past a year. Had good reviews.
That's the one I just bought just looked up my past orders. Only thing I wish it had was the watts function like my fieldpiece. I can clamp to a bake element and put the leads on the terminals and get the watts without doing the math or using the ohm calculator.
If there was a short… It might NOT…. trip the breaker,.. if the three prong dryer cord is not wired properly as we see in many cases😅 I have seen this in a few cases
But a grounded element is not a short condition. You still have a load in the new circuit: Line to partially broken element to chassis ground.
@@AppliantologyOrg sorry… I miss spoke… I meant a short to “ground”… that is not “grounded”
Great video and sound advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent sir! Great information, thanks for sharing!
You bet!
lol call it sales or just talking But when talking leads to sales it’s usually called sales
I agree and like his attitude. Luke 6:31
Hi I want wiring DIAGRAM AND TROUBLE SHOOTING DOCUMENT for GE REFRIGERATOR please load pdf hear
You can download tech sheets, service manuals, and troubleshooting docs at Appliantology. Tech support and continuing training, too. appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1027-tech-memberships-at-appliantology/
God bless you for making this video. I wa an Appliance repairman from 1973-1999 and had my own company almost 12 years. My 2006 Kenmore HE4t has been acting up for too long. I appreciate your expertise and willingness to share! Bless you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you. Based on what I am seeing in this video, from now on I have to check the schematics this is how I learned the HVAC and make is very quick for myself to be able to troubleshoot the systems actually most of the problems is air flow in residential . I actually just got hired at GE and will start tomorrow what is your onion for this company ?
Don't know what GE is like as a company to work for. Their products are on par with the other manufacturers. But their technical literature is some of the best in the industry.
You need to do step-by-step instructions for EACH step. If you already have some knowledge about icemakers, great. But, I'd like to see a "Ice-maker reset for dummies" video. This is NOT it.
would you explain again why you do not use the AC regular test and use the LowZ , I do not know even what does it do !
Short answer: Ghost voltage. Long answer (with a demonstration video): appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1058-what-is-ghost-voltage/
thank you, you are a great instructor
I appreciate that!
Hi, I am new to appliance repair, but had a good HVAC background, but I am all confused here !! if I have a 120 volt between J1 pin 1 and J2 pin 8, can you do just test Pin 8 on J 2 and put another probe to line R for hot to see if we have voltage to the motor and if we do then it means the motor is bad and if we do not that means the board is not sending power. Please advise if I am right !
Your theory is correct. But there's a practical problem which my method avoided. I did all my testing from the easily-accessed control panel. Your method would require unnecessarily disassembling the freezer to gain access to the red wire on the evap fan or rolling the fridge out to get your probe on the hot spade of the power cord. Defeats the whole purpose of cleverly using the schematic to fix equipment faster with minimal disassembly.
That make perfect sense. Is this for this kind of particular boards ? Because most boards if you look at the schematic they send 120 V to the load from the board and line 1 and natural are on the for example J connections taps ! Is that current ?
@Habibthehvacguy You’ll see both switches Neutrals and switches Lines to loads in appliances. Manufacturers will even change from model to model. That’s why I always look at the schematic for my Load of Interest to see how its power supply is switched.
Thank you! Exactly what I needed! I put glass soda bottles in the freezer and they exploded because I forgot them in there! 😅 so I really needed to clean under the bins and all around the freezer.
Doing warranty work for a high rise. They had about 150 of them. Other than a few belts no early sealed system failures while under warranty (as it should be). But most the time it would just be customer dissatisfaction due to dry times
Thanks for that info, @tannerross-barco8238!
Nice!
I believe your Fluke 177 has a lowZ option to measure voltage under a small load. Was the problem in this case inside the appliance or in a wrongly installed wall outlet?
Fluke 117 and yes it does but I wanted to show off my old skool wiggy. 😎 The problem was a reverse polarized outlet.
Whirlpool dishwasher venting problems
Very gald I came across your video. I believe I found the source for my LE error code. On the very bottom of the wirring harness where it splits and goes into two connections and under the washer. The baby blue wire is broken, and the black wire next to it is chaffing. How would be the best way about going to repair this? Space is limited. Flip dishwasher over to see if I can gain access to wiring harness?
Yeah, the wiring harness is tight. Might be able to use a crimp on butt connector.
@AppliantologyOrg that's what I am thinking. I just hope I can gain access to the rest of the harness from underneath. Planning on flipping it and disassembling. Where it's at I won't be able to repair it unless I remove the harness. Thanks for the reply.
So when you jump the yellow wire it's just like you're running the fan with a full duty cycle?
Ezzacly!
What does it mean when you have a GE monogram and the temo control panel beeps 3 times when you touch it?
How did you wire up the replacement condenser fan motor? I bought a similar one today and noticed that my fridge only has a blue, orange, and green wire. My new condenser fan motor did not come with instructions unfortunately.
The yellow wire is normally the speed signal coming from the fan, and this is also used to sense whether the fan is running or not.
Exactly what we showed in the video! Also the blue wire on the fan but not used by the computer.
Junk refrigerators
Not totally junk. A more nuanced assessment would be “good technology implemented on the cheap.” Same story with all home appliances.
It never turns off?
The fan stopped running when I removed the green jumper wire from the yellow PWM input. The blade doesn’t stop right away- it coasts to a stop.
You can watch the full video where I jumped the fan motor wires here: 4 Wire Evap Fan Troubleshooting kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKKpuNyHm9qpfbQ.html
How was that jumped? What was used to supply power?
I used the green jumper wire in the video to jump the 12 VDC supply (red wire) to the PWM speed signal line (yellow wire) and “trick” the motor into thinking that the computer was telling it to run full speed. I used a DC power supply to supply the 12 VDC ($40 at Amazon).

Nicely done, problème is on some of devices, the paper schematic is nowhere to be found. Where to get the digital version that you're using ? 😊
I download whatever tech literature I need from Appliantology: appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1027-tech-memberships-at-appliantology/
WHERE CAN I BUY THAT DEVICE TO READ THE AIRFLOW?
Buy a $30 anemometer from Amazon. This post shows you how to use it to measure dryer vent air flow: appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1077-how-to-correctly-measure-dryer-vent-airflow/
I broke flapper what do I do
I broke the flapper what do I do
Thanks so much, that was a life saver...!!! 👍
Glad it helped!
I'd like to see a link to the PDF of that service manual that you were holding.
That was the tech sheet that came with the fridge. I download PDFs for tech sheets and service manuals from Appliantology.org: appliantology.org/blogs/entry/1027-tech-memberships-at-appliantology/
@AppliantologyOrg I found it after a bit of searching. Your video was extremely helpful. Thank you for posting!
I have a Samsung it keeps restarting what could that be
How hard of limits are the resistance values on the sensor from 46K to 52K ohms? For instance, does a measurement of 55.3 K ohms indicate a bad sensor?
Thank You!!!
Thank you so much!!!! The tec who came told me to replace the mcu … 300 euros all i did was what you said… i messed with the wire harness on the mcu! Didnt cost nothing! You saved me tons!! God bless you!! Cheers from Greece❤
Yassou!
Thank you soooo much I could not figure out how to get this rack out. My freezer is all frosted up and frozen and I need to thaw it out and can't get the ice out which should not be there lol
Git er done!
You saved me some $. The noise filter was at 120v. The computer lite was not on when washer was plugged in. What a Hassel though. I just replaced the clutch bearing
Could that motor go out in the middle of a cycle?
I don't get it. It the heating element is working, how is it the jazz board?
Thank you so much! I was going through some of my girlfriend's late grandfather's tools (electronics repair man entire life) and I found an Eico 1140 Combination box and I couldn't understand the use of it, but now the general idea makes sense. I know a little different tool but very useful! Great video, nice and to the point. I was an appliance repair man for Sears in a previous life and wish I knew about substitution boxes 🤦.
YES! Thanks so much. This was my question and you answered it clearly and to the point. Perfect!
Very nice short cut , I used to do this on the condenser fan motor on the AC and by pas it to see if the board is bad or if the motor is bad . thank you , Question are you the instructor in Samurai website ?
Thanks, Habib. We are a team of instructors: Samurai Appliance Repair Man, Mrs. Samurai, and Son of Samurai.
