This is the motivation i needed to get back to unreal, btw what about importing 3d tracked camera for VFX work into unreal, is it acheivable?

I am interested more in CGI work combining Animations with real footage, "real footage" is the camera tracked stuff that we get from for example 3DEqualizer to Maya, i know we can import cameras to unreal, but can we get the footage aligned with the camera. i was hoping to get some procedural vfx in Unreal and get some nice animations going.

y key toggles between transpose tool (three yellow circles) and the transform gizmo. w,e, and r keys switch between move, rotate and scale. control key enables the masking tool. Heyy I'm getting an error in Maya with this line "self.btn_close.clicked.connect(self.close)" line 34: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'clicked' . Does anyone know what might be the issue .

This means the code doesn't know what the button is, so it can't find the clicked function. This can happen if you remove the close button from your Ui file.

Make sure you have the python editor script plugin enabled. Also, this should be obvious, but you have to run the code in Unreal.

Maya has no support for PySide6? I tried but it keeps complaining about module not found. Tried to manual install them into Maya but couldn't even launch Maya anymore. Guess I stick to PySide2 then.

I believe Maya's entire UI is built with PySide2, so it might be particular about importing two related modules. Can you import some other python module saved in the same location?

I have been following along your tutorial and its going great but, when we go to create new material instance constant, the engine crashes... I tested it multiple times, it crashed every time. Got any solution for that

Unreal tends to crash when it encounters invalid paths. Double check you didn't forget an extra forward slash or something : )

for the BlendMode nodes you can get .value and .name on them so you don't have to convert using str(). It's not in the docs but if you print(dir(blendNode)) it shows up.

Is there a way to export the lowpoly mesh with the creasing information to maya? Or would you have to zRemesh every piece and make sure the smoothness and crease gets captured before rendering in maya?
