How do new cadets get assigned to units? Is it random based on numbers or any other criteria is taken into account?

Cadets are randomly assigned unless they are coming to our school to play an instrument (they go to Band) or if the student wants to ride a horse (will go to the Troop).

Character development and hands on leadership experience. These kids are learning to lead at a very young age. The things they do here I did for the first time when I was 23-24 years old (telling others what to do, counseling others on performance, how to build teams, etc.).

And then you stumble onto something like this video and you realize that, while the Footlocker is being looted of all their Nikes, and statues of Abraham Lincoln are being toppled, these fine, upstanding, young men and women are quietly working as hard as they can, mentally AND physically, preparing for the future. Consider my faith restored.

No. This video is to show what goes on during a regular school day. Cadets have mostly free time after school on Friday's until Sunday night when they need to get back to studying. They do attend a parade on Sunday around noon on falls and spring (but that does not take longer than 45 minutes).

We have boys and girls in our school and two separate leadership systems. The boys use the military system and the girls the prefect system.

Not, but most kids play video games from their own rooms in their computers and every unit have a unit lounge where kids play video games and watch movies on weekends. Our unit lounge for example has a large screen and a large TV for people to do both simultaneously.

Damn. That's definitely quite a schedule and I'm sure people come out of there all the better for it, but my high school homework always took far more than 2hrs... How do y'all get your homework done in that short amount of time? Also, do they offer financial assistance or scholarships for those who would love to attend but may not necessarily have the family financials to pay for it?

Yes, our cadets have a busy life and they do manage to do their studies during CQ. If that time is not enough, they can request additional time to complete their work. And yes, financial assistance is available.

If you are in hard classes you don’t get your homework done in time. It is just called you have to work through that last time before bed. And you can request late lights to stay up and get work done.

20yrs hasn't changed much. Good old days of Sgrt Click trying to get me out bed n wasn't happening. Black stripper constant. Probably still have the record for longest run of detention their 3yrs straight.

Not really. Elementary military type school beforehand did well high school more issues with fams. Turn out same for school 1/10 price. Still good times besides my detention status my whole time there.
