In my study, I have control variables in the form of statements (Latent variable). So in this case, where should I connect it? To the dependent one only or should I connect to the mediating and moderating variable too?

For your naive forecast, you say today's fcst is the same as yesterday, but why do you offset naive fcst by 1 qtr? Is yesterdays fcst = previous qtr fcst? This is the part I'm not quite understanding.. hm

I led a research group in molecular genetics for thirty years, so do have some idea. Philosophy of science is about as much use in the lab as ornithology is to birds. Descriptively, Feuerabend is the closest to what actually happens, but he is far too anarchistic.

Maybe, in the same trivial sense that there is no life without a philosophy of life. Certainly many great physicists have arrived at philosophical positions, but as a consequence of their work rather than as its methodological basis. As a discipline, philosophy hasn’t been able to contribute anything, unless you want to call all of science philosophy - we do after all get PhDs.

This video is about how to conduct a literature review and what the most valuable part of a literature review is. The speaker argues that simply presenting descriptive statistics and correlation tables is not enough for a literature review. A good literature review should synthesize the information from the literature and develop a new framework or research agenda. The most valuable part of a literature review is the ability to transform these descriptive statistics into a new framework or research agenda. The speaker suggests four possible outcomes of a literature review: a taxonomy, a research agenda, a conceptual framework, or a meta-theory. A taxonomy is a classification system that can be used to group related articles together. A research agenda is a plan for future research. A conceptual framework is a model that shows how different concepts are related to each other. A meta-theory is a theory that integrates different theoretical domains. The speaker concludes by saying that the worst thing a student can do in a literature review is to simply present descriptive statistics. The most important part of a literature review is to synthesize the information from the literature and develop a new framework or research agenda. According to the video, entering and contributing to a scientific field involves listening and learning about the field before you can start introducing your own ideas. The speaker uses a party analogy to illustrate his point. Imagine being at a party where there are groups of people already talking amongst themselves. If you just walk in and start talking about yourself, people will likely ignore you. The same is true in science. Newcomers need to listen and learn about the field before they can start introducing their own ideas. The speaker suggests that the first thing newcomers should do is listen to the conversations that are already happening. This can be done by reading the scientific literature in the field. Once you have a good understanding of the field, you can start to build on the work of others. This is how science progresses: by building on the shoulders of giants. The speaker concludes by saying that he often receives submissions from people who have not read any of the papers in his journal. These people are like the person who walks into a party and starts talking without listening to anyone else. They are not part of the scientific conversation, and their work is not likely to be well-received. Follow or connect with Alon on linkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/ilanalon
