I'm looking at 2 R/M's, exactly the same bike, motor (85nm), specs and everything but one is class 1 and the other class 3..... oh ya, one cost $3000 more than the other. If I buy the class one (20mph) and your "chip", am I correct that it will unlock the restriction (on either bike). Will I need to do the "variety" type rides you describe, to avoid it going into "limp mode" or "error"? Thanks for your great work. My hope is that Bafang will "lead" other manufacturers to abandon this "nonsense". Violating speed limits, is a local enforement issue, not a manuafacturer issue, I think....

I had a 2023 Rocky Mtn Altitude 4.0 . It required a lot more rider energy than a Brose, Bosch or Yamaha to get the most out of it. The biggest drawback was the battery charging system overcharged the battery and the battery exploded and burned everything in my garage to ashes. Rocky Mountain seemed to want to help, but in the end they just wanted to get the burned bike out of my possession and pretend it never happened. I feel a duty to warn potential buyers of the very real danger of keeping a Rocky Mountain bike indoors. The damage to my home and property is over 350k, and I am lucky to be alive. Don't take the risk with a Rocky Mountain E-MTB. It is not worth it.

Does this chip still log on the system that one has been installed and void the warranty on a new bike? With the firmware updates just now with April's update, it's meant to be bricking the system. It's too frightening to try without a lot more knowledge on what is logged on the system. Do they know, and does it void warranties and brick the system now? I'm too scared to try it, but I guess that's exactly the fear they want to put in us all for these! The best thing would be to get the diagnostic tool cracked! They have done the 3rd generation now, so hopefully, the 4th won't be too far behind
@mcpackard3115Ай бұрын
Bosch do not know you have installed a chip as long as you don’t do any further updates to your software once the chip has been installed.Yes if they detect the chip has been fitted via the updates , your warranty is voided. Another forum had a posting from a guy who had problems with his motor. So he simply removed the chip. And took the bike to his Bosch dealer, who promptly repaired it under warranty.. so it’s obvious that Bosch do not know you have had a chip running on the motor as long as you avoid software updates. Hope this helps.

This information I have relayed is for the Volspeed chip only… I am not sure how other chips operate.
@EpiceBikesАй бұрын
In our experience this is the result of most peoples warranty claims, If you don't update and use the flow app you are more likely to have no detection of the chip if a warranty claim is required. It is however not guaranteed to be undetectable.
