VERY nice -- but beware if listening in headphones. The visuals are fine, for a hand-held shot, and the sound is SUPERB for most of it -- clear, open, with fantastic stereo imaging. But: at a few points during the song, for maybe 30 seconds or a minute, the left mic (the taper must be using an external mic plugged into the phone) fails, and you get mostly silence with some brutal scaping noises. If you're just listening to this on your computer or phone's speakers (or even a TV) it's probably ok, but on headphones it made my head explode. (So much that I'm contemplating downloading it and fixing those dropouts -- but realistically that's too much work to do on somebody else's video, and they'd probably just get mad at me. TLDR: Don't listen to it on headphones unless you're prepared for the dropouts. But: DO listen to pieces on headphones, because outside of the dropouts the sound is really beautiful.

It would cost the band next to nothing to have one well-positioned person take a "fan" video of each concert and post it online, plus a few crew members can take some photographs. No edits. No post production. Let the audience know before the show starts where they can get the video online and that any other video recording will get you kicked out. I went to a Jack White concert and before the show started there was an announcement that professional photography of the show would be posted online for free and that phones were only allowed during the first song and the last song, unless Jack said otherwise, and an entire arena full of people followed the rules. That was a terrific compromise.
@GuitarManUpstairs8 ай бұрын
It's not a bad idea. Jack White also took a little too far and actually took people's cell phones away! Which these days that's actually a bit of a safety issue ... because what if the parents have an issue with kids at home and the babysitter can't get a hold of them. I ultimately do agree there was way too many phones out for the U2 show. I think they can be forgiven considering that it is the very first night at a brand new experience.

@GuitarManUpstairs8 ай бұрын
I believe that your comment makes an assumption that filming the show makes it less enjoyable for the person filming. I'm not sure that that assumption is correct in all situations. And as far as the number of people filming I agree it's a little redundant kind of like this 15th comment on this video talking about how many people are filming.

Bob Dylan has no phone clause at shows. He’s right. Who wants to pay for immersive experience then view on a 5 in screen?
@GuitarManUpstairs9 ай бұрын
Well that's certainly a point of view. It's important for all of us to have a POV. It's also important that we allow freedom and liberty. To your question it seems to me that either people disagree with your assertion that they are viewing it on a 5-inch screen or that they believe capturing some of the experience allows them to relive their experience later and therefore have a better and perhaps greater experience. I would also add that both the marketing department at the Sphere and the promotion team from U2 are likely quite happy that so many people took and posted videos to help them get their message out. I can certainly understand Bob Dylan's perspective, he might do well to remember that back when he decided to go electric that change in technology also wasn't received well. However he pushed forward because he knew that change was inevitable.
