I can't tell you how many times I've watched this show but I just noticed the smallest detail. When ever anybody comments about how long Lester has been in the pawn shop unit his response was always "13 years and 4 MONTHS." After he says he's been with the force for 32 years in this clip Shardene follows up with a subtle "and 4 months." Lol never caught it before.

For five years (and 4 months) I lived in Baltimore. I moved there the night Snot was killed, ripping and running at the dice game, and moved out when Jimmy got out of his car and was looking over the city then said "Let's go home".

I just finished season 5 and loved this show all the way through, one of my favorites. But this ending is not believable to me. I don’t buy that the BPD is just going to be ok with being made fools out of. McNulty and Freamon deserved to be fired, prosecuted, and have their pensions taken away

This shows you why The Wire is one of the all-time great television dramas. (Actually, put it anywhere outside the top three and you'll have an argument.) It was true to the way things were done in the Po-lice, and just listen to the script. Just at the point when it threatens to become sentimental, what does someone say? 'Shut up, you gabby motherfucker'. And it don't stop there. And that is without the Pogues song.

I always wondered did McNulty get fired or was he just going to be stuck on an assignment he hated for the rest of his career like the boat or behind a desk which for a guy like McNulty that would prolly be enough to make him quit or would be a fate worse than imprisonment or termination.

This scene for me intertwines the history of the irish in america ,the struggles, that romantic, nostalgic feeling brought home perfectly with Shane McGowan and the Pogues playing in the background. Everyone drinking in an Irish bar. Its reminiscent of the "American wake" that people were given in Ireland in the 1800s and early 1900s when they were sailing to America. A big pissup to say goodbye. You were as good as dead to them because Youd probably never come back. This is the most Irish scene in the wire. It's so well done. Fair dues.

This was literally the first scene from The Wire I ever saw. I did not know of the show, I did not really watch TV at the time, I did not have HBO. I was traveling for business, and was channel surfing in a hotel room, and I caught this scene, and was completely captivated. I had to know what show it was....
